A REMARKABLE TEAM

“When you send your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the ground.”

Psalms 104:30

The best team in the universe is made up of The Holy Spirit and The Word. The power is in the Spirit, and the authority is found in the Word. The Holy Spirit is the one who inspires and breathes life into the Word, transforming everything. The Holy Spirit is also the one who knows the most intimate things of God, and helps us to know His will. However, the Holy Spirit could not express Himself without the help of the Word of God. Neither one of them can act independently from the other. Together, they are a powerful example to us of unity.

The Scripture states that, “The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together… God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him” (Colossians 1:15-17, 19). We also read, “By His Spirit, the skies were adorned” (Job 26:13a). David said, “By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of His mouth” (Psalm 33:6). The creative power responsible for forming the universe was the Word of God. In order to do this the Word worked together in perfect harmony with the Holy Spirit.

God never shows up late, but He doesn’t arrive early either. He always operates with perfect timing, and it was just the same when He created the universe. As believers, we have to receive the message of the Word of God through the power of the Holy Spirit and accept it in our hearts, believing every divine promise by faith. When we do this, we become clothed with all of the power of God’s creativity. The Word of God will fulfill every promise that is given to us. When the Lord said to the Apostles, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you” (Acts 1:8a), He was implying that once this happened, the Holy Spirit would help them to testify about Jesus. He was also referring to the power that should be reflected in the fruit of the ministry. There should be a yearning in our ministries to win the lost and for this, we need a deep compassion that only comes from God.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
I always remember the man who came to my office in tears, saying, “Pastor, my two children were killed because of me.” This man was the father to a five-year-old son and a three-year-old daughter. They crossed the street one-day in a moment of carelessness and were hit by a vehicle that instantly took both their lives. The accident took place 3 years previously. However, he was crying as if he was back in that very moment. His desire was to go back in time to take better care of his children. He desperately wanted to have a second chance. This man’s brokenness showed me an example of true repentance. When we turn our hearts to God, our relationship with Him begins.

The psalmist said, “Look to the Lord and His strength;seek His face always” (Psalms 105:4). This passage is saying that we need to have the desire to be permanently filled with the Holy Spirit, because in Him we find power. If we are filled with the Spirit of God, there will be a balance in all areas of our lives.
