AMAZED BEFORE DIVINE MAJESTY

“When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?”

Psalm 8:3-4

The great question of humanity throughout the ages has been: What is man? Eliphaz, one of Job’s great friends, said, “Yet man is born to trouble as surely as sparks fly upward” (Job 5:7). Eliphaz had a concept in is mind that to be human meant pain, affliction, and suffering. But God, as He created mankind, although he made him a little lower than the angels, considered them superior to all the other creatures of the earth. The Creator Himself made humans to carry His image and likeness, so that He could establish His Kingdom here on earth.

The Creator of the universe wanted everything to be governed by laws, in the spiritual realm as much as in the natural world. Therefore, as He created humanity, the only conditions he put on their freedom was to be obedient to His Word and His laws. Even though God was very generous with the first couple and He gave them everything they might need in abundance, He gave man one clear condition, “…you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die” (Genesis 2:17).

God’s concept of humanity was not a robot that would mechanically obey Him. He created a being with the freedom to choose his own ways (Genesis 2:7). A three-part God created a three-part man. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, created the spirit, soul and body of man. The Almighty God took the miry clay from the earth and set out to completely transform it. Man was to become the God’s masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10).

Just as Dr. Derek Prince said, “I see the Almighty Creator making a perfect work of clay. Then, in His grace and generosity, he bends down and puts His divine lips on the lips of clay, their noses touch, and God breathes out His Spirit, the breath of life. The Spirit’s breath transforms the clay into a human being, perfect and alive.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
Alfred Nobel, the Swedish chemist who invented dynamite, became rich through the industrial production of this and other explosives. A few years before his death, a French journalist confused him with his brother and wrongly published news of his death. The newspaper article reached the hands of the great inventor, who became very agitated because he saw himself how others saw him and how God would see him in a few years. The caption read, “The king of dynamite who became a millionaire producing explosives – the merchant of death.”

He was horrified by this tremendous reality, and resolved to do something different with his life. He was determined to do something that would be a more positive memorial for the generations that would come after him. That’s why he instituted the five prizes, which carry his name today and which are given to reward the highest achievements in the areas of culture, progress and peace.
