AMAZED BY HIS MAJESTY

08_16

“In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above Him were seraphim, each with six wings: with two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another: ‘Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.’ At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.”

Isaiah 6:1-4

In the prophet Isaiah’s revelation, we see the way in which the seraphim express their worship to God. We know that the seraphim are angelic beings of high order that are connected to the divine presence. They used two of their wings to cover their face, which shows reverence before God and represents bowing in worship, for it is an act of humility in which they surrender to God so that He can take His rightful place in their lives. The two wings that covered their feet showed that they were not boastful about doing God’s work. Just as Moses removed the sandals from his feet, because of the divine holiness, the seraphim covered their feet and put aside all the service done in the work of God to be able to give themselves exclusively to intimacy with Him. The other two wings are used for flying, and this signifies gratitude toward God. With their lips the seraphim said, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord.”

In Revelation, when John had the vision of the throne of God’s glory, he says that the entire heaven knelt down and worshipped telling God that He is “Holy, holy, holy” (Revelation 4:8).

Why is holiness mentioned three times? Because God is triune: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The seraphim continually say, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord.” In that moment of worship, the 24 elders of Revelation remove their crowns and surrender them to God. The same happens when we are confronted with God’s purity, majesty, and holiness. We surrender our ministries, our jobs, our titles, and our triumphs, at the feet of Jesus. When one worships the holiness of God, the spiritual atmosphere is transformed into an environment of peace and divine glory floods in. As we are confronted with God’s holiness, our hearts surrender completely to Him and our spirits open to hear His voice. Regardless of the condition we find ourselves in, when we receive the love of the Father, we are transformed into His likeness.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
In one of the revival meetings celebrated by J. Wilbur Chapman, a certain man gave his testimony saying, “Sin made me a beggar, without a home or respect. I moved to Pennsylvania, hiding in a goods train, and begged on the streets for a year. One day I tapped a man’s shoulder and asked, ‘Sir, can you give me a penny?’ When the gentleman turned around, I recognized the face of my elderly father whom I hadn’t seen in years. Full of joy, but deeply humbled, I said to him, ‘Father, don’t you know me?’”

“When he realized the truth, despite my change in appearance and the rags I was in, he threw his arms around my neck and with tears in his eyes, told me, ‘Oh! My son, I have found you. You don’t have to ask for a penny because everything I have in the world is yours.’ Think it through, dear readers. I was begging for a penny from my own father who, for eighteen years, had been looking for me to give me everything he possessed!”

When Jesus wanted to give us an illustration of divine love, he chose the image of the father with his prodigal son. Surely, the love of God has over abounded in us more than what we ask for or understand.”

TODAY’S DECLARATION
“I surrendered my life to God in adoration, I serve Him with faithfulness, I am thankful for His goodness, and He fills me with His love.”
