IN HIS WORD THERE IS PROTECTION

“For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

Hebrews 4:12

Something special happens when we release the Word of God. His eternal Word comes alive, and when it does, it imparts life. Jesus said that the Spirit gives life but the flesh profits nothing, (John 6:63). His Word is both Spirit and life. The life of the Word of God is in the Spirit. The Word of God would lack power if it did not have the support of the Spirit of God.

His powerful Word is said to be “effective,” in the Spanish Bible when translating the Greek word, “energes.” The English translation uses the word “active,” which is closer to the Greek since “energes” means active or dynamic. The Word of God works in this way because it is charged with all the divine energy to fulfill God’s purposes. “So is my word that goes out of my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11).

His Word is cutting and sharper than a double-edged sword. This sword is the N.T. Greek word, “machaira” and in still in use in its modern Greek form, “maxairi”, to mean a sharp knife. When the Word of God is released, it reaches into the very core of a human being. It penetrates to even the most hidden depths of the soul or the spirit. This sword is also double-edged, which comes from the Greek word, “distomos,” which literally means “of two mouths.” This means that it penetrates extremely deeply, like a sharp knife cutting right into the joints and bone-marrow. It even discerns the most hidden thoughts and intentions of the heart. Since God’s Word is so alive and so sharp, we can say that when it spoken from the mouth of a servant of God, it is destined to fulfill its purpose.

The Bible is the only book that can bring wisdom to your life, hope to your family and the expectation of eternal glory. A Christian can reach spiritual maturity if he trains himself by studying God’s Word. The more you study it and the deeper you go into the Scriptures, the more your spiritual senses will be sharpened as you grow in the supernatural. Therefore, you should set aside a time and form a plan to read the Bible, to study and meditate on the Word of God. It must become a daily delight in your life.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
Every person who comes into this world has a mission to accomplish. When God sets a decree over someone or something not even the forces of darkness can stop it. A while ago I heard the testimony of Pastor Douglas, who is part of our ministry here in Bogota. He told me, “This happened to me before I came into the ministry. Coming home from work one day, I crossed the street and suddenly I felt like I was flying; I had been hit by a car! The only thing I remember was being in the arms of a very tall man, dressed in white. He had a glowing face, with two big wings. He spoke to me with a voice that sounded like a trumpet, saying, “Do not fear, I am with you, I will defend you and use you to influence and transform thousands of people’s lives.” Later, a taxi driver picked me up and took me home. I told my mother that a car had hit me and the impact had knocked me about five meters along the road. I told her that I had almost certainly broken something. They took me to a clinic, where it turned out that all I had suffered was a torn muscle in one leg. God protected me by sending His angel.”
