LIVING ON THE PROMISES OF THE WORD

“And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing.”

Genesis 12:2

At the beginning of our current ministry God gave us this word and we have used it to strengthen ourselves throughout all these years. This Word came to us after nine years of having pastored small churches. Up until this point, the largest one that we pastored had reached 120 members. God used this verse to change my heart and it brought revelation to my wife’s life as well as to my own. From that moment on, a ministry of multitudes was birthed inside of us. In a very clear way God told me, “Dream of a very large church because dreams are the language of my Spirit. The church that you are going to pastor is going to be as numerous as the stars in the sky and the sand on the seashore.” Less than two months after receiving that word, International Charismatic Mission was born on 19 March 1983, in the living room of our house, with eight people. One of the first verses to become a defining word in our church was, “And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing”. We took that verse and wrote it in large letters and placed it on the wall of the room where we had our meetings. That dream began with us and became the dream of every member of the church. Although God gave the promise to Abraham almost 4,000 years ago, today it has the same power. When Abraham was only one man, he believed, and although he couldn’t have children, God blessed him, and prospered him. For many years our dream took shape and kept growing until eventually, it became a reality. Just like Abraham, we went from being a ministry with no vision, to a church that dared to dream.

God wants to teach us to dream because dreams are the language of the Spirit. Without dreams we drift through life, we get filled with doubt, and we lose sight of the horizon. The Lord wants us to draw near to Him with confidence and to learn to live in His promises. He wants us to fill our minds with His Word, and to see the power of dreams.

You must have a full conviction that God has called you to be a blessing to every person around you. You may think that you do not know many people, and maybe you don’t have any disciples yet, Maybe you haven’t ever invited many people to church or to the cell group. Nevertheless, today God wants to multiply you.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
When a promise from the Word of God comes into someone’s life, it brings great conviction to the heart and, in that moment, the miracle is conceived because of the understanding that the Word of God is eternal and has no expiry date. The Apostle Paul said, that the blessing “given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.” A little further on in the chapter he adds, “And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise” (Galatians 3:14, 29).
