WE WILL BE FILLED WITH HIS GOODNESS

04_26

“Blessed are those you choose and bring near to live in your courts! We are filled with the good things of Your house, of Your holy temple.”

Psalms 65:4

The Word of God abounds in His house. His house is also a symbol of protection, peace, harmony, communication, affection, respect, security, and strength, among many other things. We find all kinds of provision in the house of God that He has prepared so that none of His children will lack anything. There are all sorts of good things, spiritual, emotional and material blessings, available in His courts. The only thing we need to do is reach out with the arms of faith and follow the same advice that the Lord gave to Joshua. He told him to, “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful” (Joshua 1:8). David said, “The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance” (Psalm 16:6). It is better to live in the land of blessing than in the territory where curses abound. God looked down on us with eyes of mercy and because of that mercy, allowed us to be born by faith. Through this we now have the legal right to live with the people of God.

When we were in the process of trying to buy the offices that we were using for our church, we did not even have the money to pay the current rent. I remember a meeting that I had with the owner in which I told him that I didn’t want to just rent the property, I wanted to buy it. My wife, who was sitting next to me, looked at me with surprise. She knew that we didn’t have enough money but I was acting as if we had all the finance in the world. The owner told me that he was only renting it out, but that if he did decide to sell, we would be his first option. Six months later, we were buying the building. How on the earth was this possible? It could only have been by faith, for without faith, it is impossible to please God.

Do you know that you possess a great inheritance? This inheritance is your life of faith! It is so powerful that it raises a hedge of protection around your whole family, your spouse, your children, all your loved ones, and even your church. When you begin to take care of what God has given you by blessing it, His miracles begin to manifest in your life.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
Filled with nerves, a certain man approached the King’s palace, carried along by one of his aides. He shivered before knocking on the door and negative thoughts raced through his mind. He could almost hear the voice in his head saying, “If you enter the palace, you will never come out alive. For many years your family has been the enemy of the king. He has summoned you, not to show kindness to you, but because he has been waiting for this very moment. He has been waiting for the perfect opportunity to take revenge.” With this tremendous struggle going on inside of him, he heard the door to the palace begin to open. Raising his eyes, he saw a man with a gentle voice say, “Welcome, we have been expecting you.” Relief flooded into his heart but it didn’t last for long. Again the voice in his head returned, saying, “He is being friendly in order to lull you into a false sense of security.” Anguish and panic seized him once again. He came under great torment and the long journey through to the king’s chambers seemed to take an eternity.

Coming before the king, he was placed into one of the king’s chairs by the person who carried him on his shoulders. He wanted to whisper, “Do not sit me here, put me on the floor, because the king might be disturbed.” But the king, who was attending other state affairs, put aside his activities and to the man’s surprise came down from his throne. The king greeted him, causing the man to begin trembling as he heard his name come from the very mouth of the king. It was like hearing his death sentence! He tried to speak out, but nerves got the better of him and he stammered. Seeing the man’s anguish, the king knew exactly what was going on in this man’s head. He said to the man, “Fear not. The relationship with your father was not a political one. We had a covenant of respect and protection and through this covenant mercy is extended to you. The lands of your grandfather will return under your control and from today you will always eat at my table. With his head bowed the man responded, “What is your servant, that you should notice a dead dog like me?” (2 Samuel 9:6-11).

Like Mephibosheth, many people feel utterly miserable. When the blessings of God are at your door, you tend to try and reject them, thinking they might be too much for you and you do not deserve them.
