GUARD YOUR HEART

“So above all, guard the affections of your heart, for they affect all that you are…”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭4:23a‬ ‭(TPT)

Our HEARTS are the center of our lives…the natural heart regulates the whole body: strong heart = strong body! Likewise in the things of God, or in the spiritual realm, if our HEARTS are strong, our lives will be strong! Our HEARTS determine what comes out of us – spiritually, attitudinally, motivationally, relationally, emotionally, etc. – basically in every area of our lives.

1 Corinthians 8:12 MSG says, “…the heart regulates the hands…”, which means that everything we do in life is established and directed by our HEARTS. Jesus said, “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things…” (Matthew 12:35 NKJV).

We must put God’s Word in our HEARTS so that His Word sets the course of our lives. The Word of God in our HEARTS will cause what we do in our lives to be based on His Word, and that Word will produce good things! We must guard our HEARTS to allow only God’s Word in, then His Word will be what comes out! For example, if we’ll be determined to sow God’s Word in our HEARTS regarding our finances, we’ll get the good results of what God’s Word says about finances. Likewise, we’ll get good results in our marriages, our health, and any area of our lives! In every area, when we put God’s Word in our HEARTS, we’ll get God’s results!

Our HEARTS full of God’s Word will determine the well-being of our lives. Therefore, we must guard our HEARTS and only let His Word in, not allowing our HEARTS to be encumbered by the circumstances of life.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
The first thing The Lord reminds me whenever I have the opportunity to be challenged by something is, “GUARD YOUR HEART!” I know He’s reminding me to keep His Word as my final authority and not to let the circumstance overtake me. Whether it’s regarding my attitude or how I’m going to respond to someone who’s “hitting my last nerve.” I must keep my HEART steady on God’s Word regarding my love walk or being kind or patient or speaking words of life. I must be committed to the principle of “guarding my heart.” (Pastor Kuna Sepulveda)
