THE LORD WILL PROVIDE

“And Abraham called the name of the place, The- Lord -Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, ‘In the Mount of the Lord it shall be provided.’”

Genesis 22:14

Genesis 22 is an example of living free and fearless. God asked Abraham to sacrifice his miracle son as an offering to Him. Up to that point Abraham already experienced the miracle-working power of God. When Isaac asked Abraham where the lamb for the offering was, Abraham responded, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for the burnt offering.” Isaac, the miracle son that God had given Abraham was now on the altar, ready to be sacrificed. It’s amazing to see Abraham’s commitment to obey and please God. He was testing Abraham, testing his ability to trust God with what He was asking him to do. When Abraham was about to strike and sacrifice his son, God stopped him and provided a ram for the burnt offering.

God is not asking us to sacrifice our children, but He is asking us to trust Him. We all face trials and difficult circumstances, but who is your trust in? “Jehovah-Jireh” means, “God is my provider!” Abraham knew that God would provide the sacrifice. With everything that’s going on around the world today due to COVID-19, worry and anxiety will try to consume people’s mind and hearts. The circumstances are real: loss of income, furloughs, divorce, families separating and health issues, all these things could seem like the world around you is falling apart. The example of Abraham and his willingness to trust God was the key to his breakthrough. We must surrender all fear, worries and anxieties to the Lord, and see God as Jehovah-Jireh, our provider. Stop focusing on the problems and start focusing on the promises of God! Stop speaking about the problems and start speaking about God’s promises!

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
We have an adversary that tries to steal our joy, peace and confidence in the Word, but God’s Word is true. There were times when I received news that I would be furloughed, laid off, or that my company was cutting back, so they would have to eliminate my position. In those moments of hard times and disappointing news, thoughts of fear and worry would try to bombard my mind. In those moments, I had to make a choice to trust God! In those moments, the Holy Spirit reminded me of God’s promises, specifically Malachi 3:10-12, which says:

“Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it. “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, so that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” says the Lord of hosts; “And all nations will call you blessed, for you will be a delightful land,” says the Lord of hosts.

This Word kept me in faith, knowing that God already had the next job already set up for me. God has already opened the windows of heaven for you today! No matter what the circumstance looks like, we serve the God of the turnaround! (Sean Wela)
