BE TRANSFORMED BY THE RENEWING OF OUR MIND

Today’s Bible Verse

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Romans 12:2

Be Transformed by the Renewing of Our Mind

Did you ever ask yourself, “Why should I spend time alone with God?” or “Why is spending time with God in the secret place so important for my life?” Until we gain an understanding of the value and power of encountering God daily, we will miss out on one of the most life-changing experiences. As we spend time with our Heavenly Father, we will begin to experience the depths of His love and receive wisdom, direction, and every answer we are looking for.

Philippians 4:8 says, “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”

Your mind is the battleground on which the war for your emotions, purpose, and fullness of life is won or lost. It’s your mind that is daily attacked by the enemy. It’s your mind that the world is trying to influence for its own benefit.

Consider how many thoughts run through your mind daily or even in an hour.  The Lord desires to renew your mind daily, so you can have an abundant relationship with him and learn to discern what thoughts are His. So, if the mind truly is a battleground, how do you come out the winner? How do you come out victorious over Satan and his deceptions?

The Bible says clearly that to achieve victory over your mind, it must be continually renewed by the power of God’s Word.

Romans 12:2 says “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

The mind is either being won for the kingdom of God or lost to the world. We are either experiencing the abundant life Jesus made available to us or not.

When I first received the Lord into my heart, the idea of renewing my mind seemed unattainable. When I first started reading the Bible, it seemed hard to understand and nowhere near anything I was going through. But as I continued reading, thinking, and meditating on the Word, I discovered that the Bible is only as life-giving to me as I am willing to give my heart and time to be transformed by the Word.

Until we actually sit down, open our hearts, and allow ourselves to be transformed by God’s word, we will never experience the life that comes from victory in our minds. The thoughts that plague us—the thoughts that rob us of freedom, peace, and joy—will never be conquered until we allow our mind to be renewed by God’s Word.

To ignore the battle waging in the mind is to lose the war. Our enemy is looking for us to become complacent against his attacks. He drives us to act on sinful thoughts, accept ungodly attitudes, and believe his lies are just a part of life on earth. He knows he has no power against the ability of God’s Word to transform us and does all he can to distract us from finding that truth.

When we allow God’s Word to be the foundation of our thought life, the battle for our minds will be won for the kingdom. The ungodly thoughts and insecurities we face daily will flee in the glorious light of God’s truth. That’s God’s promise for us, today and every day. I pray that this year you will make the decision to consistently and powerfully encounter the living God through His Word. (Pastor Pattie Eselu)

Today’s Declaration

In the Name of Jesus, I declare and settle it today that I will not allow myself to be conformed to this world, but I choose to allow the Word of God to transform me and renew my mind so that I can discern what is the perfect will of God for my life—what is good, acceptable, and perfect in His sight.
