Today’s Bible Verse
The word of the Lord came to me: “What do you see, Jeremiah?”
Jeremiah 1:11 (NIV)
What Do You See?
Young Jeremiah is getting ready to embark on his ministry, and God has a powerful conversation with him. On two separate occasions, God tells Jeremiah to not be moved by “their faces” (Jeremiah 1:8, 17). God tells Jeremiah, to not be moved by what he saw. This is such a powerful word!
I believe God is reminding us today, “Do not allow what you see to move you.” No one is denying the existence of adversity, challenges, or trials; but we refuse to be moved by them. Perhaps today you find yourself in the middle of a storm where the clouds look dark and powerful; DO NOT BE MOVED BY WHAT YOU SEE!
However, there’s another interesting aspect about this conversation (take some time and read Jeremiah 1 today; it’s life-altering!). Twice in the chapter, God asks Jeremiah, “what do you see?” On two occasions God says, “Don’t be moved by what you see,” but twice God asks him, “What do you see?”
God is telling us to see beyond the natural, see beyond what is in front of us, to see with the eyes of faith. It’s time for us to elevate our faith and refuse to allow our lives to be driven by what we see in front of us. Whatever you see with your natural eyes is subject to change based on what you see with your heart! (Pastor Lilly Montano, Word of Life Santa Barbara)
Change My Story
What do you see when it comes to your marriage, children, finances, health, relationships, etc.? Do you see your children serving God? Do you see your body healed? Do you see yourself prospering in every area of life? Do you see your home filled with peace? Do you see your Life Group growing? Do you see your business thriving? Do you see your spouse living a surrendered life? Do you see yourself conquering in life? If you can see it, you will have it! Remember, just like the song:
Even when I don’t see it (in the natural), You’re working,
Even when I don’t feel it, You’re working,
You never stop, You never stop working!
We just have to see it!
“For I’m going to do a brand-new thing. See, I have already begun! Don’t you see it?” (Isaiah 43:19, TLB).
Today’s Declaration
Father, I thank You that all Your promises are “yes and amen!” I am cemented in the truth of Your Word, and I am not moved by what I see in front of me. Mountains were designed to be conquered, and trials to be overcome. Today, I see the goodness of the Lord manifested in my life in Jesus’ Name.
