Today’s Bible Verse
I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.
Deuteronomy 30:19-20 (NKJV)
Choose to Live Uncommon
It is estimated that we make about 35,000 decisions per day. We decide what time we will get up in the morning. We ponder if we are gong to drink coffee or not. Some of us spend a few minutes to decide what we are going to wear to work. We also decide what we will eat for lunch. The list goes on and on. The power of choice is our God-given ability to make decisions when presented with two or more options.
Every time we go out to eat at a new restaurant we are faced with so many different options of what to order from the menu. Some restaurants have so many choices that it takes us a while before we can make a decision. Why? Simply because we weigh out the different options and we want to make sure we are making the best decision. Some make their decisions based on the price of the meal. They want to make sure they get their money’s worth. Others choose based on their cravings or a specific diet that they want to stick to. We exercise the power to choose constantly.
In life, we need to ask why we make certain decisions. What motivates those decisions? Our decisions are based on our conviction and set of beliefs. The mark of spiritually mature Christians is that they choose not to be governed by their emotions. They don’t make decisions based on circumstances around them. A mature believer chooses to make their daily decisions based on the teachings of God’s Word. God has called us to live an uncommon life that produces uncommon results that glorify the Name of Jesus. The pathway to uncommon living is to walk by faith and live according to the Word of God. (Pastor Wally Matanza, Word of Life Yokohama)
An Uncommon Life
One of the things that we learn from Scripture is to live a life of integrity over compromise. We are a reflection of the character of Christ to the world. Our lifestyle as a disciple is one of the things that make the gospel so attractive. In Christ we are filled with joy unspeakable. We can face difficulties and challenges with an overcomer’s mentality because we know that with God on our side nothing is impossible.
Let’s choose to live uncommon by keeping compromise out of our lives. It’s been said that we are to, “Preach the gospel at all times and when necessary use words.” Our lifestyle and conduct speaks volumes to those around us. Sometimes our actions speak so loud that people can’t hear what we are saying. Let’s do our absolute best to make sure that our message is reflected in the life that we live. When you live according to the Word, you are choosing to live uncommon. This freedom to choose allows us to shape our lives exactly how God desires for it to be.
Today’s Declaration
I choose to live uncommon by living according to the Word. I choose integrity over compromise because I desire Christlikeness in my life. I am an extension of God’s hands and feet. I am His mouthpiece to this generation. I choose to walk by faith and not by sight. I choose to be governed by the Word of God. I place my trust in You, Lord, for You have a great plan for my life. I choose to share the gospel with others because this is God’s assignment on my life. God has anointed me to preach the gospel to everyone around me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
