WEAKNESS TRANSFORMED INTO STRENGTH

This Week’s Memory Verse

God’s power is made perfect in weakness.

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)

Weakness Transformed Into Strength

Hey Kids!

Did you know that all the powerful Bible heroes had a lot of weaknesses?  Yeah, like Peter, remember he was the one that denied he knew Jesus when the rooster yelled out, “Cock-a-doodle-doo do”?  He didn’t just lie one time, no he kept saying three times he did not know Jesus!!  Yikes!  He was easily influenced by his friends, even strangers, and things that happen to him and around him. He even had a hard time to believe Jesus!

Even though Peter had all those weaknesses he did many mighty miracles and lead thousands of people to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior.  People brought sick people into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter’s shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by to be healed.  HUH??? How did God use Peter so powerfully?

After Jesus died on the cross and He rose from the dead, Jesus was ready to go up to Heaven to sit at the right hand of His Father, but he knew we needed help.  So, He gave us a free gift, the Holy Spirit.  FREE??? Yes, free and all we need to do is to accept this gift.  When we receive the Holy Spirit, the power and the strength that Jesus had will come upon us.  This power will transform our weaknesses to strengths.  And guess what?  The Holy Spirit will be with us all the time, to help us in times of difficulty.

Peter received the gift of the Holy Spirit and the power of God came on him!  Peter never denied knowing Jesus anymore, but instead he stood boldly and courageously and used the same voice that denied Jesus to tell everyone who Jesus is and what He has done for us.  Peter received God’s forgiveness for his weaknesses and God changed him into a new person who lived His life for God.

Do you have weaknesses that you are not happy or proud of?  Maybe you are even ashamed that you have weaknesses in your life.  It makes you feel you are not good enough, strong enough, or smart enough.  And so, you convince yourself it is better to keep it hidden away from God.

God urges us to bring all our weaknesses to him, so that His power can rest upon us.  When we let God in on our situation, the Holy Spirit will transform our weaknesses to strengths.  And through the power of the Holy Spirit, you will conquer and win over the weakness in your life!

Let’s pray this prayer:  Father, I come to you in Jesus’ Name. Thank You for the free gift of the Holy Spirit.  I receive and accept the Holy Spirit to come in my life.  I ask You to fill me with Your Holy Spirit and give me my new heavenly language. I ask that Your power, fire, and strength rest on me and to transform my weaknesses into Your strength. Every day I will pray in my new heavenly language. Amen.

This Week’s Pledge of Honor

I am a hero because Jesus changed my weaknesses into strengths.

This Week’s Bible Reading

2 CORINTHIANS 12:9 (AMPC)

But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and show themselves most effective in [your] weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weaknesses and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ (the Messiah) may rest (yes, may pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me!

ACTS 1:8 (AMPC)

But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the earth.
