AN INCONVENIENT OBEDIENCE

Bringing them back, they stood them before the High Council. The Chief Priest said, “Didn’t we give you strict orders not to teach in Jesus’ name? And here you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are trying your best to blame us for the death of this man.” Peter and the apostles answered, “It’s necessary to obey God rather than men.”

Acts 5:27-29 (TMB)

An uncommon life cannot be lived without an uncommon obedience. Common sense would have told Peter that it was time to give it up, but then again, Peter didn’t see himself as a common man. Peter’s obedience to God didn’t stop at the point of inconvenience. Obey God even if it costs you money, ends a relationship, or makes you uncomfortable. Obeying God now is better than the sacrifice it will cost you later.
