Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.
James 5:17-18 (NKJV)
Elijah prayed and heaven responded by opening and pouring out rain. If we assume that God answered Elijah’s prayers because he was special in some way that we’re not, we’d be wrong. He was a man like the rest of us. Peter wrote in Acts 10:34, “…In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality.” God doesn’t prefer one person’s prayers to another. We can all learn to pray with amazing results.
