Today’s Bible Verse
In the day when I cried out, You answered me, and made me bold with strength in my soul.
Psalm 138:3 (NKJV)
Be Bold
To be bold means to show an ability to take risks; to be confident and courageous; to possess a fearless, daring spirit. There are several scriptures that teach us to be bold. We are exhorted to be bold in the Word of God, bold in devotions, bold in our praise and worship, bold in our faith, bold in our prayers, bold as a disciple and as a leader, bold in our witnessing, bold in our giving, bold in compassion, bold in trusting God, bold in our preaching the Word of God, bold in battle, bold in trying times, and bold in love.
Now is the time for the church to rise up and be bold! Proverbs 28:1 says, “The wicked flee when no one pursues but the righteous are as bold as a lion.” It doesn’t say we will be bold; it says we are bold!
A lion can roar as loud as 114 decibels, about 25 times louder than a gas-powered lawn mower. A lion’s roar can be heard up to 5 miles. It doesn’t mean we are loud and boisterous but that we possess a deep confidence and a fearless courage. We must not allow ourselves to be moved by current world events. We must be confident, steadfast, immovable, and unshakeable in who we are in Christ, with boldness:
Proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness and without hindrance. (Acts 28:31 CSB, emphasis added)
When I think of a bold Christian, I think of Peter. Peter had some flaws, but God still used him. Peter was bold in his faith, his witnessing, and his preaching. In Acts chapter 2, after he was filled with the Holy Spirit, he preached a message to doubters, religious leaders, and non-believers:
But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and heed my words.” (Acts 2:14 NKJV)
The words he spoke brought a conviction to the people, and because of his willingness to be bold, 3000 souls were added to the church. (Pastor Donalee Pang)
Change My Story
God is a good God, and God is not finished changing the story of people’s lives. But God cannot do this alone. He needs us, His church, to rise up and be bold to share the Gospel, not allowing fear or intimidation to stop us. Christ was bold for us, all the way to the Cross. Will we be bold for Him?
One of my leaders made a deliberate decision that she was not going to allow fear or intimidation to stop her from sharing about Jesus and bringing people to church. A boldness rose within her that stirred her to action. She invited someone she had been praying for to church, and that person came with no hesitation. Little did this leader know that this person was going through a very difficult time in her life. All she had to do was take that bold step of faith, and God did the rest.
Today’s Declaration
Today, I make a deliberate decision that I am a bold disciple and witness for Christ. I have a voice of faith that breaks through all darkness, fear, and intimidation and causes me to conquer territories. I will share the Gospel with all boldness and without hindrance, and I will win souls, make disciples, and bear much fruit for the kingdom of God.
