BE SALTY!

Today’s Bible Verse

“Your lives are like salt among the people. But if you, like salt, become bland, how can your ‘saltiness’ be restored? Flavorless salt is good for nothing and will be thrown out and trampled on by others.”

Matthew 5:13 (TPT)

Be Salty!

As believers, it is vital that we keep our lives “salty” and full of flavor. We cannot lose our purpose and become foolish and considered good for nothing. As believers, we must strive to fulfill our purpose, daily—to make disciples of all nations…by being salty.

Let me explain. Something I have always loved about being told that we are salt is the many-dimensional meanings, benefits, and properties of being “salty.” Did you know that salt is not only used for flavor? Some of the characteristics, benefits, and uses of salt are:

  1. It is a preservative: It keeps things from going bad or corrupt.
  2. It has the ability to change its surroundings: It changes the environments it is exposed to.
  3. It replenishes our body’s chemical balance: It carries the electric impulses to our muscles and our nerves to function properly.
  4. It is used for the process of purifying: It draws out impurities and toxins and cleanses.
  5. It’s a healing agent: It fights impurities on our bodies.

I mean, come on! That is awesome! To be salty isn’t 1-dimensional; it is being flavorful, full of noticeably particular flavors/characteristics. We are meant to live out the full and many-dimensional purposes of salt!

When we are salty, we help to preserve lives from corruption and death by teaching people to live lives that honor God’s Word. We also inspire them to change their environments by being the influence in their surroundings for the better and by replenishing their lives with the Word of God…which brings their lives back into balance by replenishing what they had lost. Lastly, when we are salty, we are in relationship with people. We do life together. And in doing so, we help to draw out the impurities and toxins with the Word of God and fellowship that cleanses and brings healing to their heart, mind, body, and soul.

Isn’t that just mind-blowing!? I love knowing that God has called us to be the salt of the earth among the people. What purpose-filled lives we are given the honor to live! (Pastor Teresa Moreno, Changing Pointe)
