BE STRENGTHENED IN THE LORD

05_31

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.”

Ephesians 6:10

How can someone have the strength to stand up to any adversity? Only he that believes in Jesus and has learned to depend completely on Him. The Lord is the source of our energy, the power to keep us standing. He is the light that illuminates our lives so that nothing dark consumes us. He is the one who forgives us when we repent of all our wrongs. He is the one who encourages us when we are discouraged. He is the One who picks us up when we have fallen, the One who comforts us when we are grieved.

Moses could remain firm in the face of the wrath of Pharaoh because he was strengthened by seeing the invisible God (Hebrews 11:27). David said, “I sought the LORD, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. This poor man called, and the LORD heard him; He saved him out of all his troubles” (Psalms 34:4-6).

Through prayer we can pour our hearts out to Him. We can offer up our lives on the altar by presenting ourselves as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God. There we say, “Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides you” (Psalms 73:25).

Prayer is the way that we relate to God, and through it, His love and goodness infiltrates us. It’s as if we receive a soothing balm or cream that covers our whole being. It is in this place, next to Jesus that we feel Him removing our every weakness, leaving them on the Cross, to completely disappear. Following this, we are filled with His presence, which raises us up in full confidence so that we know that we are more than conquerors. When we are raised up we put on the armor of a warrior to protect our minds, our hearts, our feelings and our lives against every trick of the enemy.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
A couple, who were a part of the leadership of our church, came to me some months ago to share their testimony. “In March 2010, my wife went for some medical examinations at the hospital to find the reason for her weight gain. The result we received from the doctors came like a decree of death over her life; there was a malignant tumor located in her thyroid. We came to you, Pastor, to ask for help in prayer. You took my wife’s scarf and prayed for it, applying the blood of the wounded body of Jesus on this garment. You said that every time the garment is placed on her body, the blood of Jesus would absorb every disease. You prayed that it would cancel every decree that was against us and every curse would be replaced with blessing. Looking back I can say that we saw God’s hand at work, bringing about an amazing miracle. His blood worked mightily in my wife’s life and after receiving treatment, by November the final results came back; there was no sign of cancer in her body. My wife is completely healed. Thank you Pastor, because we have learned that through the blood of Jesus we are more than conquerors.” (Omar and Lili Velandia)
