BLESSINGS IN THE STORM

“On the same day, when evening had come, [Jesus] said to them, ‘Let us cross over to the other side’…and a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow…He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, ‘Peace, be still!’ And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. He said to them, ‘Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?’”

Mark 4:35-41 (NKJV)

Jesus said something profound, “Let us cross over to the other side.” Another translation says, “Let us go through to the other side.” Jesus gave them a promise that was preparing them for the storm. When the storm came, the winds blew, the waves beat against the boat and water began to fill the boat. It seemed they were perishing, and they even reacted by stating, “We are perishing!”

The disciples were gripped with fear because of what was happening around them. But Jesus was resting on a pillow. The disciples reacted in fear, but Jesus responded in faith. He arose and rebuked the wind and the sea with the words, “Peace, be still.” The disciples didn’t realize they were in opposition to the Word that Jesus gave them.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
Never forget the Word that God gives you. Never forget that Jesus is always with you even in the storms of life. Never forget you can rest on the pillow of God’s promises and be at peace. Never tolerate fear. Rise up and take authority over it, in Jesus’ Name. Always remember that storms don’t last forever. (Pastor Chauncey Pang)
