Today’s Bible Verse

But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.

Genesis 6:8 (NKJV)

Build Your Ark

Noah lived in a lawless world filled with violence, yet he was found to be a just man, who walked with God. That was uncommon on the earth at that time.  The Bible says in Hebrews 11:7, “By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household.”  To live an uncommon life is to live by faith in what God’s Word says.

The uncommon life is about building our lives how God instructs us in His Word.  He instructed Noah exactly how to build his ark or life.  Jesus said that a wise man hears His Word and obeys it.  He is like a man that builds his house (Ark) upon the rock (Word).  When the storms of life come, that house will still be standing.

Everything you need to build an uncommon life is found in the scriptures.  It says in Joshua 1:8, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success” (NKJV).

The uncommon life depends upon living by faith.  It’s faith in God’s Word that makes the difference in our lives and in the lives of our family. Noah did not negotiate with God about building the ark, he just obeyed God.  By faith Noah built a ship in the middle of dry land.  He was warned about something he could not see and acted on what he was told.  We should walk by faith, doing what we are told, like Noah.  He obeyed God’s Word.

Noah did not go by what he could see or feel; he acted on what he was told by God.  Build an ark.  Like Noah, we are to build an “ark” to save not only ourselves, but our family. (Pastor Henry Acevedo)

An Uncommon Life

As we submit to God’s will, doing what He wants and living to please Him, we will experience an uncommon life.  I remember when God spoke to me about building my “ark”.  I said to Him, “What do you mean by that, and how do I start?”

He said, “When you have your devotional time, reading My Word, meditating on My Word, spending time with Me and praying, you are building your ark. If you don’t spend time in My Word, when the storms or floods of life come, you will be swept away.  That’s what happens to people who neglect to build their ‘ark’, or they try to start building the ark when the flood waters are rising.”

He reminded me of a time when I was mining underground, and we neglected to put back some sheeting in place to keep the water out.  Well, when the water pumps went out, the water started to rise quickly and the back sheeting began to float away, and we scrambled to start putting it in place, but it was too late.

So, I want to encourage you to start building your “ark” before the flood waters of life come.

Today’s Declaration

Father, in the Name of Jesus, I declare: I will be a doer of God’s Word not just a hearer only.  I will build my ark, so when the flood waters of life come, my family and I will be saved.
