DARE TO BE A DANIEL

“And in all matters of wisdom and understanding about which the king examined them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers who were in all his realm.”

Daniel 1:20 (NKJV)

Daniel, and his three Hebrew friends, were chosen to serve in the king’s palace in Babylon. King Nebuchadnezzar wanted the best, strongest and wisest people to serve him as king, so he issued daily meals in order for his servants to become stronger and wiser. Daniel and his friends purposed in their heart that they would not defile themselves by eating the king’s delicacies, which were ungodly and impure. So, they put Daniel and his friends through a 10-day test to see if they would come out stronger and wiser by honoring God, or those who ate everything the king offered them. After the 10 days, Daniel and his friends became 10 times better than all the servants in the palace!

Although Daniel had opportunities to compromise (in private and also in public), he chose to honor God by living a pure life. The enemy would love us to live in compromise; he will try to convince us that his way is better; he will try to convince us that his ways won’t hurt us; he will try to get us to buy into the lie that his ways have no consequences. But at the end of it all, compromise will always lead us into destruction.

Dare to be like Daniel! Choose to honor God and His Word no matter what. Always remember, when you honor Him and His Word, it will always be to your advantage. You will always have the upper hand in life when you let God and His Word be the final authority in your life. All areas in your life will be blessed when you purpose in your heart that His Word is first place.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
A minister once said, “What you compromise to keep you will eventually lose.” Compromise will always rob you of God’s best. What areas in your life have you made compromises in? What areas in your life do you feel are NOT experiencing God’s best? Ask the Holy Spirit to show you areas (family, personal purity, finances, leadership, relationships, etc.) that maybe you have compromised God’s Word. The Holy Spirit will never reveal things to put you down, but rather He brings thing to the light so we can change and experience God’s best in all areas of our lives. (Walter Arguelles)
