DECIDE TO SURRENDER

Today’s Bible Verse

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)

Decide to Surrender

This Scripture teaches us the key to living Free and Fearless.  It instructs us to wait on the Lord and to not be anxious.  Waiting is not a word people want to hear when we live in a society that promotes getting everything instantly.  However, when we wait, the benefit for us is a fresh and renewed strength.

Waiting on the Lord acknowledges our surrender to Him, and surrender means we are not going to take matters into our own hands.  In other words, I’m going to do it God’s way instead of my own way. When we rely on His strength, we can then fly and soar like an eagle, and that is a type and shadow of being free.  Running without weariness and walking without fainting means He gives us endurance, and we won’t have the fear of failing.  There is freedom in surrender.  Isaiah 41:10 says, “So do not FEAR for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Malcolm Quartero)

An Uncommon Life

Recently God spoke to my heart to participate in the Honolulu Marathon.  In my own thoughts, I already knew that was something I could not do.  I had never run a race before and in case you didn’t know, a marathon is 26.2 miles.  Through a lot of prayer and seeking God, it all came down to my obedience and surrender.  At the 16 mile marker, I had come to a decision: “I’m done, it’s time to quit.”  I actually called my wife to let her know.  She said, “Malcolm, remember Pastors Art and Kuna said it is spiritual.”  My reply was, “No, it’s physical!”  It was at this point that I had to decide—either I would surrender and trust in God, or I’d trust in me.  I chose God.  And in doing so, I finished the race and got my medal and t-shirt.  But, the greatest reward was that His Word came alive in me, and I realized I was free and fearless.

Today’s Declaration

Lord, today I decide to surrender to Your Word.  I decide to trust You.  I choose to live free and fearless.
