FAITHFUL

This Week’s Bible Verse

So, then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.

Romans 10:17 (NKJV)

Faithful

Hey Kids!

God has shown us many powerful heroes in the Bible, like Daniel, David, Esther, and Peter!  By faith Daniel shut the mouth of the fierce lions, by faith David defeated an ugly giant over 9-feet tall, by faith Esther didn’t keep silent and saved a nation from destruction, and by faith Peter spoke boldly to win thousands to the receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior even after he denied Jesus three times.

Yeah, they were superheroes not because they were smarter, or cuter, or stronger, or they had the coolest shoes, or they could run the fastest, it was because of their FAITH and trust in God.

Every one of them faced really hard times in their lives.  Yes, each one of them were tested.  Not like a math test or a spelling test.  They all went through difficult time where they had to decide to believe God or give up their faith in God.

No matter how hard it got, or how bad the mistakes they made, or how it didn’t look or feel like things were getting better after they prayed, they never stop believing in God.  God strengthen them in their weakness, gave them courage in their fears, and loved and forgave them in their mistakes.  These powerful heroes got their power from God.

The stories of these superheroes are written in the Bible to help us.  Yes, the Bible teaches us that the God’s Word is where we get our power.  When we read God’s Word it strengthens our faith so that we too can be superheroes to conquer the hard times that we go through.

Every day you need to strengthen yourself by reading God’s Word.  Without His power we are lifeless, empty, alone, and miserable.  Let’s choose this day to go to God’s Word that will give us faith in God which is the power of God working in us.   By faith you will win the battles in your life and be the child of God you have been called to be.

Pledge of Honor

I choose today, to read and speak out loud God’s Word every day. It fills me with faith and it gives me the power to resist the temptations I will face in life. For God has an amazing plan for me and by faith I will live that awesome life.

This Week’s Bible Reading

Hebrews 11:1-12 (ICB)

Faith means being sure of the things we hope for. And faith means knowing that something is real even if we do not see it.People who lived in the past became famous because of faith.

It is by faith we understand that the whole world was made by God’s command. This means that what we see was made by something that cannot be seen.

It was by faith that Abel offered God a better sacrifice than Cain did. God said he was pleased with the gifts Abel offered. So, God called Abel a good man because of his faith. Abel died, but through his faith he is still speaking.

It was by faith that Enoch was taken to heaven. He never died. He could not be found, because God had taken him away. Before he was taken, the Scripture says that he was a man who truly pleased God. Without faith no one can please God. Anyone who comes to God must believe that he is real and that he rewards those who truly want to find him.

It was by faith Noah heard God’s warnings about things that he could not yet see. He obeyed God and built a large boat to save his family. By his faith, Noah showed that the world was wrong. And he became one of those who are made right with God through faith.

It was by faith Abraham obeyed God’s call to go to another place that God promised to give him. He left his own country, not knowing where he was to go. It was by faith that he lived in the country God promised to give him. He lived there like a visitor who did not belong. He lived in tents with Isaac and Jacob, who had received that same promise from God. Abraham was waiting for the city[a] that has real foundations—the city planned and built by God.

He was too old to have children, and Sarah was not able to have children. It was by faith that Abraham was made able to become a father. Abraham trusted God to do what he had promised. This man was so old that he was almost dead. But from him came as many descendants as there are stars in the sky. They are as many as the grains of sand on the seashore that cannot be counted.
