FIXING YOUR EYES ON JESUS

Let us look only to Jesus. He is the One who began our faith, and He makes our faith perfect.

Fixing Your Eyes on Jesus

Hey Kids!

It’s a NEW YEAR!  Let’s start this New Year strong by giving ourselves a check-up!  Let’s check how our eyes are doing!  Answer these questions to get started:

What are you looking at?  What are your eyes focus on?  Is it your favorite TV program where your eyes are focused on what is going to happen in the next series?  Or are your eyes always on YouTube…looking at the coolest videos?  Or are your eyes always looking at the most awesomest video games you got for Christmas and getting to the next level?  Or are your eyes focused on God’s Word, the Bible, every day?

We learned this week in Kidz Life Live and Kidz Life Services that your strength comes from Jesus and fixing your eyes on Him.

Do you know how to finish a race?  A runner fixes their eyes on the prize of being the first to get to the finish line. So, the runner works hard at everything he or she must do to get to the finish line.

What must they do to win?  They have to work hard, practice, train, work out, eat and sleep well…no more junk food, no more McDonalds french-fries or tons of ice cream.  All these things are how they keep their eyes on winning.

Well, you and I are in a race too!  Yeah, you and I were hand-picked by God to run a race for Him.  To win this race for Jesus we need to keep our eyes on Jesus.  What does that mean?  It means that we look and follow His example.  His example of obeying everything God told Him to do.  Jesus also talked and listened a lot to God in His prayers!

We can follow Jesus’ example by knowing the Word of God in the Bible so we can obey what He says.  And talking and listening to God in our prayers.

Do you want to win the race for Jesus?  Then, let’s keep our eyes on God’s Word and pray every day.  You will be a winner in all parts of your life.

Pledge of Honor

My eyes are always on Jesus; He fills me with confidence and faith in Him.

Today’s Bible Reading

Hebrews 12:1-3

So, we have many people of faith around us. Their lives tell us what faith means. So, let us run the race that is before us and never give up. We should remove from our lives anything that would get in the way. And we should remove the sin that so easily catches us. Let us look only to Jesus. He is the one who began our faith, and he makes our faith perfect. Jesus suffered death on the cross. But he accepted the shame of the cross as if it were nothing. He did this because of the joy that God put before him. And now he is sitting at the right side of God’s throne. Think about Jesus. He held on patiently while sinful men were doing evil things against him. Look at Jesus’ example so that you will not get tired and stop trying.
