FORGETTING IS FREEING

Today’s Bible Verse

Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:12-14 (NKJV)

I’m not there yet, nor have I become perfect; but I am charging on to gain anything and everything the Anointed One, Jesus, has in store for me—and nothing will stand in my way because He has grabbed me and won’t let me go. Brothers and sisters, as I said, I know I have not arrived; but there’s one thing I am doing: I’m leaving my old life behind, putting everything on the line for this mission. I am sprinting toward the only goal that counts: to cross the line, to win the prize, and to hear God’s call to resurrection life found exclusively in Jesus the Anointed

Philippians 3:12-14 (The Voice)

Forgetting is Freeing

I love how Paul compels, charges, and challenges us to FORGET what is behind and to REACH FORWARD to what is ahead. Why? Because Forgetting is Freeing.  The past will try to hinder us, so we don’t visualize our future as true disciples and leaders of Christ.  Rehearsing the past only keeps us in the prison of pain, regret, unforgiveness, and bitterness. The past tries to blur our vision, cloud our destiny, and halt our progress.  FORGETTING frees us and releases us from the grip of the past into God’s eternal calling, eternal blessing, and eternal prosperity.

Paul had a terrible past.  However, when he encountered Jesus on the road to Damascus everything in his life changed.  He stepped into his future with Christ.  He stepped into his new and true life and allowed himself to be trained and discipled in God’s Heavenly vision.  He drew the line on the spirit of the past and never looked back.  He stepped forward into his future with great focus, determination, dedication, discipline, and he never deviated or diverted again.  He knew something bigger was at stake and that the true purpose for his life was to win souls, make disciples, form leaders, build churches, and win his nation for the Lord.

Jesus rescued us from the pit of our past and has brought us here for such a time as this. When we received Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we stepped into God’s purpose and plan for our lives, and it’s now our responsibility to forget the past and reach forward to those things which are ahead in Christ Jesus so that we too can win souls, make disciples, form leaders, and win our nation for the Lord.

Here are some simple steps to forgetting…..

Frame your world with the word of God (Joshua 1:8 amp): This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your MOUTH, but you shall MEDITATE on it day and night, that you may OBSERVE AND DO according to all that is written in it.  For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success.

Omit all negative thoughts of the past (2 Cor. 10:5): Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ….

Remind yourself who you are in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17): Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Get going towards the Goal for the prize of the upward call in Christ Jesus (Phil. 3:14).

Eradicate all lies, deceit, and trickery of the enemy (Luke 10:19): Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Train yourself to focus on the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20): Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” And, “Then the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full” (Luke 14:23).  (Pastor Donalee Pang)

Change My Story

Today is your day to forget your past and step into your future in Christ.  2021 is soon ending, and 2022 is approaching fast!  This is the time to step up, not step back.  Let’s focus on the goal of the Heavenly Vision in Christ and sprint towards it like never before. Remember, Forgetting is Freeing.  You are a child of God, and God has chosen you for a specific reason, despite what has happened before.

You are healed; you are sealed in God’s love, and you are called according to His purpose, and He is changing your story day by day as you continue to press forward in Him.  Don’t give up!  God once spoke this word to me, “What was before is no more because I have so much more in store for you.”  This was spoken to me when I decided to rid myself of my past and to sprint toward the only goal that counts: to cross the line, to win the prize, and to hear God’s call to resurrection life found exclusively in Jesus the Anointed!

Today’s Declaration

Today is my day to settle the call, forget the past, and reach forward to those things which are ahead.  Father, You have a perfect plan for my life in 2022, and I will Frame my world, Omit all negative thoughts, Remind myself of who I am in Christ, Get going towards the goal, Eradicate all lies and Train myself in Your Word to be the soul-winner, disciple-maker, and leader You have called me to be.  I will lay hold of and make personal Your Heavenly vision like never before.  I commit myself to reaching forward and never looking back.
