Today’s Bible Verse
Satan’s belongings are undisturbed as he stands guard over his fortress kingdom, strong and fully armed with an arsenal of many weapons. But when one stronger than he comes to attack and overpower him, the stronger one will empty the arsenal in which he trusted. The conqueror will ransack his kingdom and distribute all the spoils of victory. This is a war, and whoever is not on my side is against me, and whoever does not gather the spoils with me will be forever scattered.
Luke 11:21-23 (TPT)
Gather the Spoils
It should disturb us that the enemy’s belongings are undisturbed. What “belongings” does he have that we would want? The most important one I can think of is humanity, the souls whom Satan holds captive. The enemy cannot operate here, on this earth, without them. He needs a vessel to work through. Without that vessel, his plans cannot be fulfilled.
I see why Jesus’ last words to us were, “Go in My authority and make disciples of all nations, … and teach them to faithfully follow all that I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19-20). When we win a person to the Lord, he changes Kingdoms. He goes from death to life and darkness to light. As he goes through the process of discipleship, he no longer wants to steal or cheat or lie or do any of those things he used to do. He becomes part of the spoils, the souls rescued by the Lord. Thus, Satan no longer has him in his “arsenal of weapons.” Jesus does! The STRONGER One does . The One whose name is above every name. The One whose shed blood annihilated every work of Satan.
Let’s “go” empty the enemy’s arsenal. Let’s go ransack his kingdom and gather the spoils. Let’s disturb him. Let’s go win souls and make disciples! And never forget that He is with us every day, even to the completion of this age. (Pastor Veronica Acevedo)
An Uncommon Life
Can you imagine murderers, thieves, crooked politicians, witches and warlocks getting saved and being discipled? If you cannot, then please start there. Just as the enemy needs a vessel to operate here on this earth, so does God. When we get born again, by the power of the Holy Spirit, we become that vessel God can use to operate here on earth. We become part of the “arsenal” in God’s Kingdom. It’s up to us to “gather the spoils”, the rescued souls. My husband always says, “Jesus’ last words should be our first priority.” What a beautiful, uncommon strategy God has put into place for us. Make disciples of all the nations. That’s how we shut the enemy down and that’s how we shut him up. One disciple at a time.
Today’s Declaration
Today, I declare I am a vessel fit for the Master’s use, a soul-winner and a disciple-maker. Like Jesus, I will seek and save the lost. By the power of the Holy Spirit, I will bring them out of darkness into His marvelous light. Jesus, Your last command will be my first priority. I will go into my world and make disciples.
