GET RID OF THE SPIRITUAL FAT

Exercise daily in God—no spiritual flabbiness, please! Workouts in the gymnasium are useful, but a disciplined life in God is far more so, making you fit both today and forever.

1 Timothy 4:7-8 (TMB)

Spiritual fitness requires spiritual training. In the same way your body needs regular exercise to stay healthy, your spirit needs regular discipline to stay strong. Get rid of the spiritual fat — the stuff that says life is all about “what’s in it for me.” A consistent prayer life, daily Bible study, fasting and serving in the local church are all ways to exercise your faith and contribute to staying spiritually strong.
