“So they took soot from a furnace and stood before Pharaoh. Moses tossed it into the air, and festering boils broke out on people and animals.”

When disease attacks a person, their mind is bombarded with all kinds of negative thoughts, because the enemy’s goal is to weaken our faith in God and make us experience failure. We must feed our faith everyday because it is related to the Word of God. Some diseases are called incurable and the Lord expressed this through the prophet Jeremiah while talking to His people: “This is what the LORD says: “your wound is incurable, your injury beyond healing. There is no one to plead your cause, no remedy for your sore, no healing for you” (Jeremiah 30:12-13). Many times sickness and pain are the result of drifting away from God. That happened to the Egyptians too, but Pharaoh didn’t care because he was full of pride above everything else. He didn’t realize his nation was not only ruined but also suffering from sickness, similar to what some people in government do today. Instead of listening to people they prefer to hurt them before they consider humbling themselves. The same thing happens with sickness. Sickness is a cruel tyrant that only loves itself.
However, there is a promise for God’s people who decide to take refuge in Him, “Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security” (Jeremiah 33:6). Jesus conquered every healing at the Cross. God wants us to believe in Him and in His promises so that the miracle can take place.
The Lord Jesus’ ministry was a ministry of power. In the book of Acts we read, “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him” (Acts 10:38). The Lord had declared war against the enemy, and in his territory. He took from Satan all of humanity that was enslaved by sin. At the Cross, Jesus used the enemy’s most powerful weapon, death, defeating Satan with His own death. The Lord became the ultimate authority in the whole Universe.
In the book of Hebrews we read, “Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil—and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death” (Hebrews 2:14-15). The Lord had to be made human, experience human nature and defeat Satan as a man. Jesus didn’t defeat the enemy as God. He did it as man and through his victory, He gave us the same power to defeat the adversary.
SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
“Even when I knew God I thought it was almost impossible to consecrate myself to Him, because I felt utterly weak in the face of such a great spiritual responsibility. However, the Lord manages to place us in His purpose. The Lord worked in me through my Son Martin’s sickness. The whole situation amazed me and made me return to God. Martin received twenty-six different diagnoses by the doctors. In the early stages of his sickness the diagnosis was unknown, even though the infection affected a large part of his body; his heart, kidneys, liver and as well as his hormones. He developed an addiction to the medicine and the doctors couldn’t attack the disease because they didn’t know what the infection was. By this time he had contracted pneumonia, bronchitis, asthma and influenza A (H1N1 virus) and was being treated with morphine. His heart wasn’t able to receive oxygenated blood and he was surrounded by twelve machines to keep him alive. He was taking seven different kinds of medication. Even though I was praying the whole time for my son’s healing I saw no results and everything seemed to be getting worse. I would even pray seven times a day and quickly became physically and mentally exhausted. The doctors were pessimistic. They told me to stay in contact because as soon as my son passed away they would call me. At the beginning the psychologist would encourage us, but later on she began to prepare us for the terrible news. The doctors eventually concluded it was Pertussis (Whooping Cough). However, something amazing happened when my Pastor came to visit Martin. He entered the ICU looked at the baby and he whispered in his ear, “Since you were bought at a price, glorify God with your body.” That simple prayer changed the atmosphere of the place and Martin’s situation. He miraculously began to recover. The swelling in his lungs began to deflate. Many children that were in the hospital with him had already died from the same condition. Finally, the doctors began taking pictures and considered my son’s healing as miraculous, using it as an example to inspire other parents that had to face the same infection in their children.” (Wilton and Yari Martin)
TODAY’S DECLARATION
“I turned my eyes to God and He looked at me with eyes of mercy. He gave me His healing and redeeming medicine.”
