Today’s Bible Verse
Give God the right to direct your life, and as you trust him along the way, you’ll find he pulled it off perfectly!
Psalm 37:5 (TPT)
God, Be the Director of My Life
The Book of Ruth is one of my favorites in the Bible because Ruth recognized that her future could be brighter than her past if she trusted God now. Ruth married a man from Israel who relocated with his brother and parents to Moab due to a famine in their homeland. Ten years after their arrival, tragedy struck and took the lives of Ruth’s husband, brother-in-law, and father-in-law. With nothing left for her in Moab, Ruth’s mother-in-law, Naomi, decided to return home to Bethlehem.
It was at this crossroad in Ruth’s life that she decided to leave her past, her family, and all that was familiar behind in Moab. Ruth said to her mother-in-law, “Stop pushing me away, insisting that I stop following you! Wherever you go, I will go. Wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people. Your God will be my God. Wherever you die, I will also die and be buried there near you. May the Eternal One punish me- and even more so- if anything besides death comes between us” (Ruth 1:16-17 Voice).
When Naomi heard these words and saw Ruth’s faith-filled resolve, she did not try to talk her out of going with her to Bethlehem. Little did Ruth know that God had Boaz, a man of integrity and great wealth, waiting for her on the other side of her obedience, and there was so much more. (Julie Nurre)
My Life of Faith
Like Ruth, I’ve approached the crossroad of life numerous times and had to decide whether to trust God and let Him direct my life, or believe thoughts, circumstances, emotions, or even the counsel of well-intentioned family and friends that tried to convince me of lies: that my husband would always be an alcoholic; our marriage was over; my son would never come back from a fall of 30 feet; I’d hit the ceiling for my income earning potential; or that because my grandmother and mother had breast cancer so would I.
Ruth followed Naomi to the Promised Land of Breakthrough, and I am forever grateful to call Pastor Kuna, my Life Group Leader, mentor, spiritual mother, and faith-filled woman of influence. Pastor Kuna’s example of living by faith has empowered me to prosper in all things. I am humbled and blessed beyond measure to testify that in every situation and circumstance God has shown Himself strong! My husband is healed of alcoholism; we celebrated our 42nd wedding anniversary this year; our son is walking, jogging, biking, swimming, strong and healthy; my income has tripled, and I am cancer-free! Placing my faith in God first, seeking my Life Group Leader to agree with me in breakthrough prayer, and aligning my confession with God’s Word has always produced His results, hallelujah!
