Today’s Bible Verse
I will send a great Helper to you from the Father, one known as the Spirit of truth. He comes from the Father and will point to the truth as it concerns Me.
John 15:26 (The Voice)
Holy Spirit and Fire
On March 23, a friend introduced my husband and me to Jesus, and that day she invited us to church. A few weeks later, we heard some of the church members praying in an unusual language. My husband and I left the service that day and compared notes, “Did you hear that?!” Although it was something we had never heard before, we longed to be “in” on what they were doing. We thought it must be some kind of special club thing. When we asked our friend about this language, she shared with us that it was a heavenly language given to every believer. She then shared with us a scripture:
“I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire” (Matthew 3:11).
She continued to share about water baptism as being an outward demonstration of receiving Christ in our hearts, but that there was a second work where Jesus himself will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and Fire. We got excited because we wanted everything that God had for us. She continued to share that this baptism will empower you to be a witness for God.
Acts1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
That day our lives were forever changed. My husband received his prayer language immediately, and mine came the next day during a prayer meeting. Jesus baptized us with His Spirit, and we now walk empowered to do everything he has asked us to do through his word. You can do the same; he is no respecter of persons. All we have to do is ask. Change My Story
I want to encourage you; if you have never experienced the baptism of the Holy Spirit, the bible says that we can ask for this, and our heavenly father will give us this amazing experience. Luke 11:13 says, “If you then, though you are evil (natural), know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!“ Praying this simple prayer from your heart will change your story forever.
Today’s Declaration
Lord, I am Your child, and You long to give me Your very best, so today, I ask You to baptize me afresh with Your precious Holy Spirit. We also desire to be a witness for You. We receive all that You have for us today. Have Your way in my life in the Name of Jesus. I believe I receive this baptism in the Name of Jesus. Amen.
