IT’S TIME TO FLOURISH

“Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall FLOURISH in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old (mature) age; they shall be fresh and flourishing.”

Psalm 92:13-14

In reading these two verses in Psalms, I think it is important to ask ourselves, “Am I planted in the House of the Lord? Am I truly flourishing in my life?” If a seed is planted, it is in the ground so that it can grow. It is in the ground so that its roots can be set and settled, so that over time it will grow. To be settled can be defined as, “to adopt a more steady or secure way of life”, and to flourish means, “to grow or develop in a healthy or vigorous way.” After looking at these definitions, we can see that in these verses, we are being encouraged to be planted in HIS house and to be settled in HIS house so that we will live lives that are flourishing. And that even as we grow in the grace of God, and as we mature in age, we will still be full of spiritual vitality, strong, and full of the life of God.

I am sure that almost all of us want to flourish the way God intended for us to flourish…where there is no lack, where there is HIS peace in the midst of the storm, where there is HIS strength when life can be hard, where there is HIS wisdom to handle every situation, where there is HIS joy when life’s challenges may try to bring us down. To stay planted and not move from place to place, to be settled in our heart so that our life has stability in HIM…

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
My mom found Word of Life Christian Center in Honolulu when I was 14 years old. We attended for a while, coming from a previous church, because of moving around when I was young. But there was a significant time in my life, shortly after attending Word of Life, where I heard my mom say, “This is going to be our home church because this is where we will experience the most growth.” From that moment on, it was settled in my heart that I would be planted in this church. I knew I would grow, and continue to grow in the WORD if I stayed planted here at Word of Life. We knew about Psalms 92:13-14, one of my mother’s favorite scriptures. Fast forward thirty-two years and I have truly seen my life flourish. My husband and I have seen God show Himself strong in our lives. He continues to provide for us supernaturally, protect us supernaturally and bless our household supernaturally. If you are not planted and settled in your heart about this vision, or where you call your “home church”, let me encourage you, it’s time to FLOURISH!!! It is time to settle where God has called you. It’s time to live life with the STABILITY that only HE can provide!! (Desaree Kurihara)
