JESUS, OUR HERO

01_31

“Jesus Christ our Lord…who through the Spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by His resurrection from the dead.”

Romans 1:3-4

One of the most powerful weapons the enemy had at his disposal was death. He gathered his armies and said, “We do not have to fear, in a few minutes our enemy will be dying and I will be crowned as Lord of the universe. For this reason today is a day of celebration and no one should be sad. We will all celebrate.”

When they were at the peak of their feast, they were interrupted by knocking at the doors of Hell; the adversary said, “But who could have stayed outside if I gave the order for everyone to be inside celebrating?” He sent a demon of low rank and said, “Go and open the door so we could see who stayed out and is now interrupting me.” He started to open the great doors of Hell, and seeing who was there, he returned frightened. The adversary looked at him and said, “And you demon, why are you afraid, who could have frightened you, if I am here?” But the demon could not speak. The adversary sent another higher-ranking officer, and when this one opened the door and saw who was outside, he also turned pale, and completely terrified, returned trembling. The adversary told him, “You are also afraid. Well I shall go myself and see if whoever it is will scare me as well.” The adversary got up from his chair and went towards the door, and opening it, he saw who it was and immediately became pale. He slipped into the form of a serpent, returning to his original state and started to move from one side to another. At that same instant, Jesus of Nazareth lifted His foot and stepped with force on the serpent’s head crushing the head of Satan, and speaking out, “Remember that this too was written, that I would crush the head.” (Genesis 3:15). At that moment He took the keys of hell, the keys of death and rising on high, He led a host of captives and gave gifts to men. Later His body was raised triumphantly and victoriously from the dead.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
Writing to the Christians in Colossae the Apostle told them, “Since then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.” (Colossians 3:1-3). Paul guides us in the things we should seek, where we should seek them, where we should place our attention, and who our refuge is.
