LISTEN TO HIS VOICE

“But whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.”

Proverbs 1:33 (NIV)

Of all that is happening in this world today, the adversary continues to try and put fear in our lives. Is fear real? Yes, it is, but our God is bigger than fear! To overcome fear, we need to listen to God’s voice and activate our faith. What is faith? “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ” (Romans 10:17 NIV).

We know as Christians that the adversary wants to paralyze us with anxiety, insecurity, lack, poverty, and anger, sickness, past hurts, past failures, divorce, family separation and even now with this so called pandemic, COVID-19. We accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior, so we need to be reminded that we are all God’s children and because of that we have the right to not panic, worry, no matter the situation, problem and uncertainty. God still remains in control. God’s voice and His Word will give us peace through what we are going through and what the world is saying on this pandemic crisis. God’s Word says in John 14:27 (NIV), “Peace I leave you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
As Hawaii began to close down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I had to lay off 95% of my team at work. Fear gripped me for a moment and my mind entertained that they were going to hate me and turn against me for what I had to do. My mind even entertained that I was going to be the next one on the list to be laid off.

I remember Pastor Art’s First Sunday message of 2020, “Fearless.” He stated that fear contaminates faith. Fear is the “PERVERSION” of faith. Fear is dangerous to your soul and destructive to your spiritual health. It’s harmful to every relationship that we have and today we need to shut the door on “FEAR.” At that moment I had to renew my mind and it was not easy. I had to fight and remind myself that I am a child of God and I listen to God’s voice and not the voice of the world. In Romans 12:2 (NIV), it says, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Stan Abihai)
