LIVING BY GOD’S WORD

DEVOTIONAL-GRAPHIC-1600x900_128_Revised

“How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”

Psalm 119:9-11 (NIV)

Edwin Louis Cole once said, “Be a man of integrity, in a world of compromise.” Is it still possible to live a life of integrity in the midst of the world that we live in today? With all the negativity and influence of social media? Absolutely! The key is to maintain constant contact with God’s Word through daily reading of scripture and practical application. We must seek and desire the Lord’s presence through prayer and daily confession of His promises.

The Bible teaches us that faith comes by hearing the Word of God. But it doesn’t stop there. We can’t just be mere hearers of the Word and expect to live a life of victory. We must also be doers of the Word. The Word of God is alive and full of power and is able to produce change from within each and every one of us. Through consistency and discipline in studying the Word of God, your conduct, speech and love walk will begin to change and reflect the character and love of Jesus Christ.

To live free and fearless is to desire change in our lives. It will demand a life of surrender and purity. Each time you read God’s Word, you are feeding and nurturing your spirit with the life and strength of God. It enables you to live a life of consecration that is well pleasing to the Lord. The spirit of this world attempts to distract, tempt and entice you away from seeking God. The enemy knows that if you make a quality decision and commitment to have a daily contact with God’s Word and His presence, it will be impossible to get you sidetracked. When you choose to live according to God’s Word, you position yourself for great Conquest and victory in life!

Remember the words of Jeremiah 23:29 (NLT), “‘Does not my word burn like fire?’ says the Lord. ‘Is it not like a mighty hammer that smashes a rock to pieces?'”

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
Many of us are inspired by championship teams and individual champions in a particular sport. From boxing, martial arts, basketball to football. We may even have our favorite teams. What is it that we like about them? What is it about their skill, talent or ability that attracts us to them? It’s true that many of them are gifted in their craft. But in order to be the best of the best, it takes an intense discipline and commitment in their particular sport to win!

We are in pursuit of something greater. It is God’s plan and purpose for our lives. There is a call of God upon your life that requires a level of consecration. It begins to unfold and come to fruition through your personal walk with the Lord. There are multitudes on the other side of your obedience. Allow the Word to create the necessary change in your life. (Pastor Wally Matanza)
