LOYALTY GOES BOTH WAYS

Today’s Bible Verse

Hold on to loyal love and don’t let go, and be faithful to all that you’ve been taught. Let your life be shaped by integrity, with truth written upon your heart.

Proverbs 3:3 (TPT)

Loyalty Goes Both Ways

The book of Proverbs is full of wisdom and direction for us.  It speaks of God’s character, who He is and desires to be in the midst of our lives.  It tells us how committed He is to His word.  He is not a God who lies, and He does not change.  He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.  He is faithful to us; His loyalty is to those that love him.  We hold on to the truth, the word of God, and it says to be faithful to all that you have been taught. My Life of Faith

One day I got a call from the hospital.  On the other end of the line was a frantic family member that could barely get the words out, but what she said next would bring any mother to her knees: “There has been an accident; your son may not make it; you need to come to the hospital right now.”  I had never been in this place before.  It was unfamiliar to me, and I immediately started to pray.  My eyes started to swell.  As I got into the car and started driving over to the hospital, I started to remind God of his promises, declaring his faithfulness to me and that I needed him to save my son and heal him.  I got to the hospital and what I saw upon arrival caused my heart to drop. The doctor came in to give his father and me an update on his current status.  I could hear what the doctor was saying, “He may not have much time; his brain has swelled; the liquid is at dangerous levels. It doesn’t look good; even if he makes it, he may suffer brain damage or be in a vegetative state.”  But, I heard the voice of my heavenly father: “I am not done. I have him in the palm of my hand.”

I thanked the doctor and immediately started to apply my faith—not because I knew how to do it, but because an overwhelming sense of loyalty and love started to rise up in me.  I prayed the promises of God in that hospital room, trusting that God would show himself strong, not having any qualms about who was there and what I saw.  God has been loyal to me and loved me too much to leave me or my son in that state.  I trusted God so much that I continued to attend midweek service, Sunday service, did my devotionals, and never missed being in the presence of God throughout that season.  Today, my son is a walking miracle, healed and whole.  He is a testimony to God’s loyalty and love for me and my children.  I learned a few things about myself and my God during that season.

  1. Loyalty goes both ways – I needed to keep walking out my faith regardless of what I was facing.  Leaving the hospital to go to church service was hard for those around me to comprehend, but I knew I needed to be in the atmosphere of FAITH if I wanted to get through this. Be Loyal.  Be obedient!
  2. Trust HIM – in every season stand firm. Don’t be moved regardless of the circumstance unfolding before your eyes.  I had to trust and know in my heart that His word was final authority. Trust Him!
  3. He loves our children more than we do or could comprehend.  He has a perfect plan for our lives as well as theirs, and no matter what happens, we must give over any anxieties, fears, worries, where to send them to school, who they will marry, what careers they will have, over to HIM.  We are simply stewards of them guided by the Holy Spirit.  God’s plan is perfect.
  4. God is a God of miracles.  I could hear what the doctor was saying in the natural, but I heard my Heavenly Father in the supernatural. He is a supernatural God, and I could not look at him as if he was a natural provider.  As Pastor Kuna always shares with us, “Draw your strength from the Holy Spirit and persevere.”

Hold on to HIS promises and don’t let go!

Today’s Declaration

Today, I declare that no matter what happens, I will be fiercely loyal to the plans and purposes of God. I will love His Word and obey it all the days of my life.  I will never look to another for my healing, comfort, or needs.  I am a person of faith, fearless in the things of God, trustworthy, and full of grace because of God’s mercy on me and my household. To You Father, I commit my life and everything within it. In Jesus’ Name!
