MEN OF CONQUEST

DEVOTIONAL-GRAPHIC-1600x900_18

“And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David when they defied the Philistines who were gathered there for battle, and the men of Israel had retreated. He arose and attacked the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand stuck to the sword. The Lord brought about a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to plunder. And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. The Philistines had gathered together into a troop where there was a piece of ground full of lentils. So the people fled from the Philistines. But he stationed himself in the middle of the field, defended it, and killed the Philistines. So the Lord brought about a great victory.”

2 Samuel 23:9-12 (NKJV)

In these passages, we have two men: Eleazar (he held on to the sword, which is a type of the Word) and Shammah (he positioned himself and didn’t give up any ground), who were mighty men of God who were part of David’s army. They were conquerors who conquered and warriors who warred. These were true men of Conquest who were confident, courageous, fearless, relentless, alert and aggressive.

They were not afraid to confront and conquer in battle because they had a victorious mindset and an overcoming attitude!

-They were not willing to back down in the day of battle.
-They were willing to stand their ground and defend it to the end.
-They were willing to fight when others withdrew.
-They were willing to use their weapons.

We all face different types of battles. Battles of the mind, of the heart, our health, our finances, relationships, spiritual growth and emotions, just to name a few. Regardless of what we face, we have what it takes to conquer. God has given us…

-The Name of Jesus (Mark 16)
-The Word of God (Matthew 24:35)
-The Blood of Jesus (Revelation 12:11)
-The Holy Spirit (John 14:16)

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
When facing life’s battles:

-Stay Spiritually Fit (1 Timothy 4:7)
-Stay Spiritually Focused (Hebrews 12:2)
-Stay in Faith (Hebrews 11:6)
-Stay in the Fight until you Win (2 John 8, AMP)

Paul said,“Having done all to stand – STAND!” (Ephesians 6:13). In the most intense battles that you may face – stand your ground! Fight for your marriage; fight for your family; fight for your disciples; fight for your life and for the lives of others. You are standing for generations to come. (Pastor Chauncey Pang)
