PASS IT ON

Today’s Bible Verse

O God, You have taught me from my youth; and to this day I declare Your wondrous works. Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, do not forsake me, until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come.

Psalms 71: 17-18 (NKJV)

Pass It On

David felt a great responsibility to pass on what God had shown him. He told stories and wrote songs about how God worked in his life. He never missed an opportunity to tell the people about the power of  God. David was a walking testimony for God to show the generations that God can still do wondrous works. As Christians, there is truly an urgent responsibility for us to pass the torch on to the next generation, especially when it comes to the Great Commission:

And Jesus came and spoke to them saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.  Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the  Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am  with you always, even to the end of the age.’ Amen. (Matthew 28:18-20 NKJV)

The generation right behind you needs to know how to win souls and make disciples. Establishing a  solid education, playing in athletics, having a great paying job are all good opportunities to pursue, but we need to teach them the Word of God. We need to teach them how to pray, how to do devotions,  how to win others to Christ, and how to make disciples.

King David didn’t want to die until he could pass his legacy on to the next generation. We should carry that same passion and desire. Let’s have a conviction to partner with the Holy Spirit to uphold our calling by proclaiming the power of the Holy Spirit to the next generation and the generations to come.  They need to believe that they can take the torch and run with this same conviction and urgency. If we don’t believe it for our up-and-coming generations, then we will see a faithless, weak generation after us. Not in this house!

We have to believe that we are equipped with the Word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit to leave a legacy of leaders and disciples for all generations. (Pastor Stan Abihai)

Change My Story

One of the most awesome responsibilities I have as a dad is to pass on to my children what they need to succeed in life. Even with my age and gray hair, God has given me a responsibility to lead, guide, and let my kids know about the wondrous things that God has done for me. God wants to do it for them too.

Will you grow old and not allow yourself to teach the next generation how to live for God? Are you willing to take the torch and run until it’s your turn to pass it on? Let’s change our generation now! Now is the time to have an urgency to pass on what the vision is for the next generation.

Today’s Declaration

I choose today to fight and rise up for my generation and the generations to come. I choose today to win souls and make disciples. I choose to run with the torch and pass it on when it’s time to pass it on!
