PETER WALKED ON WATER

A Kidz Life Devotional

This Week’s Memory Verse

“Peter walked on the water toward Jesus…”

Matthew 14:29b (NLT)

Peter Walked on Water

Hey Kids!

Is it for real that Peter walked on water? Yup, he really did until he started to be afraid. Yeah, when Peter saw the giant waves and the strong winds, he sank! Yikes! What happened? He believed more in the power in the waves and wind than in the power of God! God gave Peter faith to do the impossible. But Peter opened the door to fear to come into his heart. So instead of going closer to Jesus, Peter sank, and he could not get to Jesus.

You know like when some of you are around your friends, and they don’t believe that Jesus is cool like you do. You even heard them talk bad about a kid that read the Bible and go to church! So, like Peter, you open the door to fear. You are afraid that your friends will not hang out with you if you talk about Jesus. You lose your voice and courage to tell them about Jesus. Fear can stop you or you can stop fear! It’s your choice. What will you choose?

Did you ever have an awesome idea or an answer to a problem, but you don’t tell anyone because you are afraid of what people will say about it or think about you? Or have you ever wanted to join a team like sports, dance, cheerleading, robotics, gaming, or any kind of team but you are afraid the kids will laugh at you?

You have a choice to let fear control your life or you take control over fear. You have the power to tell it to get out of your life. Or you can let it stay. Which one will you decide to do?

Fear is not from God and will destroy your faith in God. It will steal God’s blessings away from you! It will even take you away from God and his plans for you! Be fearless and stand up against fear. As soon as you feel fear rise up within you, tell it to get out of your thoughts and your life in the Name of Jesus. Jesus’ name has the power to get rid of fear. It is stronger than fear. Fear must bow down to the Name of Jesus. All you need to do is stand up against fear and command it to get out of your life in the Name of Jesus! Don’t let fear stay with you for one second!

Confession (Say this out loud):

I will not fear. When fear rises up in me, I will not let it stay in my thoughts, my feelings, my heart, and my life. I will use the power God gave me in the Name of Jesus and in my voice to command fear to get out of my life. I will not let fear stop me from telling my friends about Jesus. I will not let fear bully me. Fear, I command you to get out of my thoughts, my mind, and my heart in the Name of Jesus. Fear you must bow down and get out of my life right now. You will not control me! I take authority over you in the Name of Jesus. I stand up for Jesus and the truth. I am courageous. I am fearless! I have decided to follow Jesus, believe in Him, trust Him, and obey Him.

This Week’s Pledge of Honor

God has not given me a spirit of fear but a spirit of power, love, and self-control.

This Week’s Bible Reading

2 Timothy 1:7 (ICB)

God did not give us a spirit that makes us afraid. He gave us a spirit of power and love and self-control.

Philippians 2:9-11 (NLV)

Because of this, God lifted Jesus high above everything else. He gave Him a name that is greater than any other name. So when the name of Jesus is spoken, everyone in heaven and on earth and under the earth will bow down before Him. And every tongue will say Jesus Christ is Lord. Everyone will give honor to God the Father.
