"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her."

Ephesians 5:25

Every marriage will face difficult times. Remember that every decision you make about your marriage will end up affecting your descendants one way or another. It’s important for us to recognize that unfaithfulness isn’t the only reason for a marriage breakdown. Rather, indifference, which often turns into abandonment or rejection, is also a cause of broken marriages. For instance, if one of the partners starts to get annoyed or angry with the other, a distance can come into the relationship. If this is not dealt with, it can be very dangerous. Eve was the first person to become distanced from her spouse and the adversary was able to tempt her when she was alone.

It is important to remember that God created two beings from only one with the purpose that both be a help to the other. Satan knows that it is much harder to manipulate the will of two people that are in agreement, and that is why he works to bring distance between couples . If there is division in a marriage, the enemy can influence the individuals much more easily. God gave Adam a woman as his suitable helper. She would be his support, and both of them together would form a powerful team. Solomon said, “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves, a cord of three strands is not quickly broken” (Ecclesiastes 4:12).

My wife Claudia and I have been married for thirty-four years and over the last two years I’ve had a fresh desire to revive and renew the romance in our marriage. However, I realized that this feeling needed to have some expression and action involved, so I decided to start writing her poems. Sometimes, because of the ministry, I have to take short trips. I remember a trip where Claudia went to the airport to see me off. When my plane landed, “Claudia had already sent me a text message that said, “How was the flight? You’ve only been gone a few hours and I already miss you, I love you so much.” I replied straight away, “The flight was fine, I just landed. You know that I love you with all my heart, you are my blessing and my inspiration, and you are God’s poem to me. Through you, the Lord was able to express what a woman after his own heart should be like. Your eyes are the reflection of angelic purity; you look like a beautiful sunrise. Your face is so beautiful that it reflects the purity of your heart. Your smile is like the joy of children who make even the most bitter in spirit smile. Your bearing is like a that of a queen, your impressive lips woo and overcome me. Your words are so charged with authority that the most distinguished of the heavenly armies are at your disposal to satisfy your smallest desires. Your caresses are like a refreshing warm breeze that helps to renew my strength. Your walk is like the arrows shot by a valiant warrior that will never falter and always fulfill His divine purpose. My beloved, I give thanks to the Lord for you, for our family, I love you with all my strength. I am the most privileged man to always have you by my side. I love you.”

As the years go by we should not allow our marriages to fall into monotony. We must strive to always keep the romantic flame of love burning bright. When two people are united in love, respect, harmony, and enjoy serving the Lord together, all of this will be like powerful walls that will protect not only their marriage but also their descendants.

"The truth of the Word, the power of the Spirit, and the presence of the Father protect my family."
