RESPONDING TO THE CALL

“Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them–to the Israelites.”

Joshua 1:2

Moses was a great man of God, and there has never been another man quite like him. God spoke with Him face to face. We all know that throughout history, the Lord has raised up tremendous ministers and used them in extraordinary ways. However, each ministry, as great as it may have seemed, has a time when it comes to an end, and passes on to a new generation. Some denominations have not been able to understand that the Lord allows for one season to conclude in order to bring a new one. God told Joshua, “Moses my servant is dead” (Joshua 1:2a). It was as if He was really saying, “This era has come to an end.” Many live in the glories of the old forms of leadership, but they forget that we are the current generation and God wants to revive His fire through our lives. Today we are the leading characters in the drama of history. We cannot try to bring back the bones of Elisha from the grave, or bring the presence of Elijah back to earth. Joshua, Elisha, and many others are no longer alive. We are the ones who are here, right now and God wants to use us.

When the Lord told Joshua, “Moses my servant is dead,” He was entrusting Joshua with the responsibility that Moses used to have. All the servants of God have had role models to be inspired by until this day. In fact, all of our predecessors in the Kingdom of God have set a course for us with their lives, their teachings and books. The wonderful things that happened in the past have already accomplished the purpose for which they occurred. Now it is our turn! We need to embark on the plans that God already placed in our own hearts. You are the man God has chosen. You are the woman of God for this hour. Don’t ask Him to send someone else, because He has chosen you. The Lord wants to use you to write the pages of your generation’s history.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
William Carey, ‘the Father of modern missions,’ titled his first sermon, “Undertake great things for God and He will do amazing things.” This message became the starting point for millions of enthusiastic missionaries, who went out into pagan nations to conquer souls for Christ.
