Today’s Bible Verse
Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed in pure water. Let us hold on to the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us be concerned about one another in order to promote love and good works, not staying away from our worship meetings, as some habitually do, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day drawing near.
Hebrews 10:22-25 (HCSB)
Rope’s Rhythm
One thing I’ve noticed in this post-pandemic time is as things begin to normalize, our pursuit of Christ can often destabilize as we get back to our creature comforts, regular routines, and the rhythm that comes from a busy life. The real challenge with this is that busyness does not always equate or translate to a productive or fruitful life.
Kind of like when we were kids on the playground watching the jump rope go round and round, waiting to catch the rhythm and jump in… wait…. Wait…. Wait…. JUMP. We’re finally in, and we start jumping: wait wait jump…wait wait jump…wait wait jump.
The longer you are in there, the more focused you are on the rope’s rhythm. Here we are jumping away and perhaps not even noticing that we are so focused on the rhythm of the rope that we fail to notice we’re not moving in any given direction.
The teacher calls and we can’t hear her. The bell rings calling us back to class, but we can’t even hear it. Yes, we are in motion but so enchanted by the rope’s rhythm we’re not mindful of our surroundings and destination. (Pastor Eli Moreno, Changing Pointe Church)
Change My Story
Here are some wise words from God’s word to help us not get lost in the post-pandemic rhythm:
Today’s Declaration
I will not just be busy; I will live a fruitful and productive life. I will not be lulled by this world’s rhythm but rather march, dance, and live by the rhythm produced by the heartbeat of the Father.
