SEEK HIM FIRST

“But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.”

Matthew 6:33 (AMPC)

God loves those who seek Him early and diligently. David is an incredible example of one who always sought God first, whether on a mountain top or in the valley. On David’s worst day, he and his mighty men returned home to find the Amalekites had raided and burned down their homes and kidnapped all the women and children. David’s men talked of stoning him to death because of their great loss. It’s in these moments of testing where God waits patiently for us to seek Him and His ways that are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:9). We must determine to pursue God as our vital need first, especially when the storms of life crash down upon us. When we do, we will encounter Him face to face and find Him ready to do the impossible! He fills us with His presence and power to transform anything and everything we place in His capable hands!

David did not run or hide from the attack of those closest to him at Ziklag. In the midst of the storm, he created a secret place under an ephod and inquired of God. And there David received his miracle, “So David inquired of the Lord, saying, ‘Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?’ And He answered him, ‘Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all’” (1 Samuel 30:8).

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
As a new, born again believer, I learned that we were given authority to call on the Name of Jesus and declare the Word to reverse any curse and any situation contrary to the Word of God. The reason for this extraordinary blessing is that Jesus, God’s only son, chose to die so that I could live free from our turbulent past. After receiving this GOOD NEWS, I determined to believe every Word that proceeded from the mouth of God, period. To seek Him first in every storm, every time….when the lives of my husband, son, mother and father were threatened, I ran to God first and declared His promises that are all, yes and amen. Then I called for back up – the fervent prayers of the righteous who can make tremendous power available! God continues to be faithful and to perform His Word that has never returned void.
