“Then Jesus told them, ‘I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, “May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,” and it will happen. You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.’”

Matthew 21:21-22 (NLT)

In Matthew 21, Jesus was walking with His disciples going to the next place that the Holy Spirit was leading them to. On the way there, Jesus was hungry and saw a tree that bore no fruit. He was distracted by this tree because it didn’t fulfill its purpose. He spoke to it and it withered and died.

Later, Jesus explains to his disciples the importance of having faith and not doubting. There is power in the spoken word and we must believe in our hearts and not doubt even the slightest bit that it will be done for us.

Each of us have a purpose for which we are called to. Yet, we can oftentimes become distracted with challenges, situations, and things expected or unexpected, whether it’s fear, sickness, finances, or emotions. Jesus gives us the example that we must SPEAK TO THE MOUNTAIN. We cannot be moved by what we see or don’t see, by what we fee or don’t feel. We can’t be moved by our emotions or even what others say. We must have FAITH and BELIEVE what God’s Word says.

We must speak to the mountain and have faith that God is moving in our midst. Daily the enemy comes to bring distractions that remove us from pursuing our purpose for which God has called us to. Yet, we are encouraged here to take on the heart and example of Jesus! SPEAK TO THE MOUNTAIN, not about the mountain. In other words, we must activate a lifestyle of faith! We must believe in our hearts that He is moving in our midst and we will receive by faith what we are believing for.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
We all have faced mountains, times of distractions and especially in this season it may seem like there are constant distractions- mountains after mountains that are arising. Yet these are the moments which we must ignite and activate our faith!

There was a time when I was so challenged by my “mountains” that it seemed too hard to climb or get over. I remember when I opened this word and activated my faith life to SPEAK TO THE MOUNTAIN. I was being motivated to speak to the problem. I had to speak to the challenge…I was really moving out of the way to let the Holy Spirit lead. It’s these moments where I have to be even more intentional, even more focused and full of faith knowing that this mountain will not stop me from fulfilling my calling. Today, I encourage you to do the same. Let’s activate a lifestyle of prayer and faith! (Nicole Silva)
