STOP HELPING YOURSELF, HELP OTHERS INSTEAD

Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, My way, to finding yourself, your true self.

Luke 9:24 (TMB)

Leo Rosten wrote in his book, Passions & Prejudices, “I cannot believe that the purpose of life is to be ‘happy’. I think the purpose of life is to be useful, to be responsible, to be compassionate. It is above all, to matter: to count, to stand for something, to have made some difference that you lived at all.” Living for yourself won’t get you anywhere in the Kingdom of God. The world fends for itself and only if there’s anything left over, will it care for others. Helping ourselves is not what being a Christian, a Christ-follower, is all about. Jesus sacrificed His life for others. To follow Him means to do the same. The Christian life is about giving ourselves to others. The question isn’t, “What do I get?”, the question is, “How can I serve?”
