“So, if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it…”
Colossians 3:1a (TMB)
Remember when you made Jesus the Lord of your life? You were so grateful and joyful. You couldn’t describe what was going on the inside of you, but you knew something happened. Your new resurrection life with Christ is what happened. You would watch yourself in how you thought, talked and walked. There was something new going on in your life and all you wanted to do was to live for Him. You were serious about living “this new resurrection life with Christ.”
Satan doesn’t want us to be serious about living this new life. He’s always targeting our minds for failure. We were once blinded by him from knowing the truth. The Bible says that, “Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe” (2 Corinthians 4:4a). But now that we have repented of our sins and received Jesus as our Lord, we are “born again.” Just as John Newton wrote in his hymn, Amazing Grace, “I once was lost but now am found, I was blind but now I see.”
The enemy cannot defeat us now that we are in Christ; however, he can deceive us into defeat. People have been ruined by what they allow in their minds. Satan knows this so he focuses on your mind. This is where the battlefield for your life is fought. The Apostle Paul said, “But I fear that somehow your pure and undivided devotion to Christ will be corrupted, just as Eve was deceived by the cunning ways of the serpent” (2 Corinthians 11:3). We must judge everything by God’s Word not by the media or pop culture. Our eyes and ears are the gateway to our soul (mind, will, emotions). If we don’t read or listen to God’s Word, we set ourselves up for failure for we won’t be able to discern what is God’s will for our lives (Romans 12:2). When we place God’s Word as the top priority in our lives, “Then we will no longer be like children, forever changing our minds about what we believe because someone has told us something different or has cleverly lied to us and made the lie sound like the truth” (Ephesians 4:14 TLB).
The apostle Paul directs us, “This is why we are to yearn for all that is above, for that’s where Christ sits enthroned at the place of all power, honor, and authority. Yes, feast on all the treasures of the heavenly realm and fill your thoughts with heavenly realities, and not with the distractions of the natural realm” (Colossians 3:1b, 2 TPT). When our thoughts are God thoughts, we will be victorious and have the Freedom to Reign!
SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
The Bible is a map, a compass, God’s instructional book for our lives. I remember when I first made Jesus the Lord of my life, I really didn’t know what God’s will for every area of my life was. It was easy to just continue life as it was like before I met Christ, but I knew that was wrong. How could I live in sin any longer when sin separated me from God in the first place? But what could I do? When we don’t know the will of God for our lives, life can be frustrating, and we feel like we are missing the mark because we know that God has something better for us. I was tired of being a yo-yo Christian. Going up and down, up and down with no stability in my life. It was only until I’ve made a determination to have a relationship with God’s Word. Not just reading the Bible but obeying and applying it to my life. It was only then I’ve found the secret to success.
God tells Joshua, “Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do” (Joshua 1:8 NLT). It’s important to sow God’s Word into our mind and heart. Only then you’ll win the battle for your mind. Training our mind with God’s Words of Instruction will give us the Freedom to Reign. Remember…we sow a thought and reap an action. We sow an action and reap a habit. We sow a habit and reap our character. We sow our character and reap a destiny. (Pastor Scott Tsuha)
