THE INDISPUTABLE

A Devotional by Pastor Cesar Castellanos

Today’s Bible Verse

“Beyond all question, the mystery of godliness is great: He appeared in a body, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory.”

1 Timothy 3:16

The Indisputable

The Apostle Paul had no doubt about this. He didn’t even consider this a matter of discussion. Jesus was God, incarnate! In Paul’s speech to the Athenians he declared: “For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO AN UNKNOWN GOD. So you are ignorant of the very thing you worship—and this is what I am going to proclaim to you. The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else” (Acts 17:23-25).

The following words make you think hard about who Jesus was. Napoleon when talking about Jesus Christ to General Bertrand on the Island of Saint Helena said: “I do know men, and I can ensure you Jesus Christ is not a man… everything in Him is admirable. His spirit overwhelms me. His will confuses me. There is no possible comparison between Him and any other person in the World. He is one of a kind. His ideas, His feelings, the truth that He proclaims, His way to persuade, can not be explained by any human organization or by the nature of things… not even history, humanity, the ages, or nature offer me something I could compare to Him, or that could define Him. Everything in Him is extraordinary.”

If Jesus is God, He is worth knowing and making known to others. “For those who find me find life and receive favor from the LORD. But those who fail to find me harm themselves; all who hate me love death” (Proverbs 8:35-36).

In his letter to the Colossians, Paul receives divine inspiration and using plain language, reveals the deity’s attributes present in the person of Jesus Christ. “The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together” (Colossians 1:15-17).

Jesus took on human form because He wanted to demonstrate to all men the glory that was to come. That is why the writer to the Hebrews said: “Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: ‘Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me’” (Hebrews 10:5).

Something to Think About

He is the Way to the lost.
He is the Protector of the naked.
He is the Bread to the hungry.
He is the Hope and complete freedom to the enslaved.
He is Strength to the weak.
He is Life to the dead, and Healing to the sick.
He is Sight to the blind and Wealth to the poor.
He is Joy without grief, and a Treasure of greatness;
All this is for me, my faithful Jesus. (Giles Fletcher)

Prayer

“Dear God, thank You for giving me the greatest gift anyone could ever receive. Thank You for offering Yourself in the person of Jesus Christ, Your beloved Son. Thank You because with great courage He assumed the responsibility to carry our sins and destroy them at the Cross. Thank You for defeating the powers of hell that controlled my life. I love You Lord, because every chain has been broken and You have made me free forever. Amen.”

Declaration

“God looked through the whole Universe for a place to establish His throne and He found my heart.”
