THE POWER AND PLEASURE IN THE TRUTH OF THE WORD

“His pleasure and passion is remaining true to the Word of ‘I Am,’ meditating day and night in the true revelation of light. He will be standing firm like a flourishing tree planted by God’s design, deeply rooted by the brooks of bliss, bearing fruit in every season of his life. He is never dry, never fainting, ever blessed, ever prosperous.”

Psalm 1:2-3 (TPT)

In John 1:1, the Bible says, “In the beginning was the Word (Jesus), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The scripture passage goes on to say in verse 3, “All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.” What an amazing revelation to understand! In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth…. In the beginning, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit worked in unity to create the heavens and the earth.

The same Trinity, life giving source, and power is what we as Christ’s church (called out ones), must live and abide in, if we want to experience ALL the fullness of God. The Word, working in unity with the Spirt, is what gives life. Jesus said “I am the way, the Truth, and the Life, no man can go unto the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). Later in John 14, Jesus speaks about the Comforter, Spirit of Truth, whom the Father sends. The Greek word used in these verses for the word “truth” is the word, “aletheia” which means truth, as the unveiled reality; the manifested, or the veritable (fact; not false or unreal) essence of the matter. The natural mind can’t comprehend this truth. It is only revealed and unveiled through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Dear friends, it is not merely enough to just know the Word of God. The devil knows the Bible and can even quote verses from it. Without the ministry and power of the Holy Spirit, you’ll gain knowledge, reading the Word. However, when you surrender your self-will to the Holy Spirit, and desire to be filled with the Him, He will lead you into all truth (John 16:13). You will not only see the fullness of God, you’ll flourish in His fullness and you WILL be fruitful and multiply exceedingly!!!

A powerful quote I once read said, “If there are any buts in your attitude toward the Word of Truth, there is something unyielded to the Spirit.” We limit the Holy Spirit when we come to God full of our own ideas, agendas and motives. They could be good, even have a form of godliness, yet we limit the Holy Spirit because we come with what “we think we know” or “we know what’s best.” We tell God our requests based on what we think, even based on scriptures, but all of it renders no results or is ineffective. It isn’t because the Word of God is ineffective, absolutely not! If that were so, the heavens and the earth would not have been created (it was God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit working in unity) that manifested the miracle, all of creation! The revelation and power of the Word, and miracles are manifested by the Power of the Holy Spirit. Our thoughts, words, and deeds must all be in the power of the Holy Spirit. Apart from this living breath of the Spirit, the message is ordinary and not extraordinary.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
As a young child, I would participate in Bible quizzes. Being very competitive, I was determined that I would win. I studied diligently to know everything about the Bible: memorize chapters and verses, how many books in the Bible, how many books in the Old Testament, how many books in the New Testament, the shortest verse, the longest verse, the shortest chapter, the longest chapter, who was the man who lived the longest, etc. While I learned so much about the Bible, I never experienced the power of the Word of God. I could quote verses, I could tell you where the verse could be found yet, I never experienced the manifested power of those scriptures. I was full of knowledge but had no revelation of the Word. Although I had knowledge of the Word, I lived in frustration, fear, rejection and abandonment.

Years later, I realized that being filled with the Spirit (not just speaking in tongues), walking in the Spirit, and living a crucified life wasn’t based on how much I knew, but a decision to crucify my self-will, and to yield and surrender my will completely to God. Being completely filled and surrendered to the Holy Spirit doesn’t happen just by knowing the Word or knowing about Jesus. It’s a continual, daily renewal and deliberate decision we must make if we truly desire to be God’s vessel that brings Him honor! When we are surrendered and full of the Holy Spirit, we experience all the fullness of God. In John 15, Jesus said, “So you must remain in life-union with me, for I remain in life-union with you. For as a branch severed from the vine will not bear fruit, so your life will be fruitless unless you live your life intimately joined to mine. I am the sprouting vine and you’re my branches. As you live in union with me as your source, fruitfulness will stream from within you—but when you live separated from me you are powerless. But if you live in life-union with me and if my words live powerfully within you—then you can ask whatever you desire and it will be done. When your lives bear abundant fruit, you demonstrate that you are my mature disciples who glorify my Father!” (Rachel Wela)
