The Power of Serving
Hey Kids!
Did you ever notice how kings and queens, or a movie star, or a rock star are served? There are always people around them that are giving them whatever they need or want. Have you ever dreamed of having people all around you getting your favorite candy, cleaning your room, getting musubis, or your favorite shave ice, or pizza and whatever you want while you sit and play video games or watch TV! Sounds cool, right?
Do you want to know what God says? He said, “Whoever wants to be the most important must make others more important than themselves. They must serve everyone else.”
That’s even more cool!!! Jesus is the perfect example! He came to serve us, and to give Himself for us. Although He was the King of all kings, Jesus came as a servant so that we could be saved and have forever life in Heaven and have a relationship with God. OH WOW!!! He gave up His place with God and made himself nothing because you and I are the most important to God.
Yup, Jesus seriously humbled himself and obeyed God where He gave every drop of His blood and died on the Cross for others all because God loves for us. He had a servant’s heart. He didn’t think of Himself or live for Himself. All that He did was for others. Guess what…because Jesus obeyed God, God raised Him to the highest place. God made His Name greater than every other name.
Don’t you want to be just like Jesus? Of course, we do! God gave you a heart of a servant because Jesus lives in you! The Spirit of God is in you. He gave you His power to serve others. What can you do to be a servant to others? What can you do to make others more important than you?
First, ask God who can you serve and what you can do to serve. Go ahead and ask Him right now. Many times, we might not know what a person needs, but God knows.
Next, make a list of all those ideas that you can do that will help, serve, bless, and show kindness to others. Then write the name of the person next to the idea.
Then share with your parents and ask them to serve everyone on your list. When you serve others, you will show them God’s love, kindness, and His goodness! Jesus said, I came to serve others and to give my life to save many people.” Your kindness to others will help them to know how much God loves them and save them from hell.
Prayer: Father God, give me to have a servant’s heart. A heart that is willing and humble to make others more important than me, in Jesus’ Name, amen.
This Week’s Pledge of Honor
I have a heart of servant. The Spirit of God and the power of God is in me to serve others and make others more important than me.
This Week’s Bible Reading
Philippians 2:7-9 (ICB)
He gave up his place with God and made himself nothing.
He was born as a man and became like a servant.
And when he was living as a man, he humbled himself and was fully obedient to God.
He obeyed even when that caused his death—death on a cross.
So God raised Christ to the highest place. God made the name of Christ greater than every other name.
Mark 10:43 (TPT)
You are to lead by a different model. If you want to be the greatest, then live as one called to serve others.
Mark 10:44 (MEV)
and whoever among you would be greatest must be servant of all.
