THE PRICE FOR OUR FREEDOM

“Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: ‘Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.'”

Galatians 3:13

Who is it outside?” The king asked one of his subjects. “I don’t know my lord.” “Tell him to send his message.” “I told him, your majesty, but he insists in speaking to you alone.” When Moses and Aaron were in front of Pharaoh, they told him, “The God of the Hebrews has met with us. Now let us take a three-day journey into the desert to offer sacrifices to the Lord our God…” (Exodus 5:3). With this they began the process of deliverance of the people of Israel that culminated with the celebration of Passover and later with the elimination of Pharaoh’s army. In the same way that Pharaoh was opposed to the deliverance of the Jews, the adversary is opposed to the deliverance of Christians, because he does not want to lose control over their lives.

Martin Luther King Jr. said, “The highest measure of a man is not the position he assumes in moments of comfort and convenience, rather the position he is willing to assume in challenging and controversial times.” God established the Cross as a place of curse, where the most terrible men were hanged to pay for their debts. The cross was used as a symbol of inhuman ridicule; it was used to frighten the people.

Jesus’ death on the Cross was the greatest demonstration of love that someone could have ever shown for humanity. If you could experience for a split second what Jesus felt in the moment of His affliction, your life would be completely changed forever. In spite of the fact that it was three in the afternoon, the sky became dark, because of the legions of demons, led by Satan, the prince of darkness, surrounding the earth. In that hour, all of the curses of humanity fell upon one person, Jesus of Nazareth. In the moment that the Son of God died, the heavens trembled and there was thunder, lightning, and great darkness. On that day, someone said, “This is either the end of the world, or the Author of life is suffering.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
A young couple came to my office and both of them looked very down. The woman spoke up first and told me, “We’ve just come from the hospital where we received the results from tests they had to do on my husband, the doctors says that it is likely he will die in twenty-four hours.” The name of the disease attacking him was Guillain-Barre Syndrome. However, they knew that the God they served had already given them the victory. We prayed that day for them, and they lived the next hours as if they were walking on water. Both of them had to guard their minds and hearts so that their faith would not weaken. That same day the man received complete healing, never again did the disease return or manifest itself in his body. (Pastor Raimonth and Ilma Garzon)
