THE SUPERNATURAL POWER OF GOD

Today’s Bible Verse

And Moses said to Joshua, “Choose us some men and go out, fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand.”

Exodus 17:9 (NKJV)

The Supernatural Power of God

The world is full of different religious groups that believe in the supernatural. It’s not strange that Satan is always a counterfeiter of God. Unfortunately, many Christians in the body of Christ don’t believe in the supernatural power of God that is available today.

When the children of Israel were attacked by Amalek, Joshua led the men of Israel to engage in battle. During the fight, as long as Moses held up his hand with the rod of God, the children of Israel prevailed. But when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. Therefore, Aaron and Hur went to Moses’ side and each one supported his hands holding them up until the enemy was defeated. As long as the children of Israel saw Moses’ hands holding up the rod of God they were victorious (Exodus 17:8-13).

Why was it important for the rod of God to be seen for Israel to be victorious? The rod of God was used mightily in signs and wonders that delivered the children of Israel from Egyptian slavery. The rod of God in Moses’ hands was used to bring the plague of hail and the plague of locust upon Egypt (Exodus 9:23; 10:13). Moses raised it up to part the Red Sea so they could walk through on dry ground and used it again to close it and destroy Pharaoh’s army (Exodus 14:21, 27). Twice, Moses used the rod of God to bring forth water from a rock to quench the thirst of the Israelites (Exodus 17:6; Numbers 20:11).

These were supernatural miracles that were never repeated in the Bible. When the children of Israel were battling Amalek and saw the rod of God being lifted up, they remembered that it was an instrument that God used to do the supernatural. They knew that God was with them and on their side. As long as they saw Moses holding up the rod of God, they knew they had the victory. It didn’t matter if the odds were against them, they knew if God could deliver them out of Egyptian bondage in a supernatural way, God could deliver them out of any battles they faced. An Uncommon Life

It may look like it was the rod of God that provided the miracles. It’s not. It was used as an instrument in the hands of Moses. God was the miracle worker. Moses needed to have faith in God and in His instructions (God’s Word). Moses spent a lot of intimate time with God. “So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend” (Exodus 33:11). The Bible says, “[God] made known His ways unto Moses” (Psalm 103:7).

When Moses ministered and obeyed the Word of God, it came out of a reverence for God. He obeyed out of his intimate relationship with God. He knew that God was capable of doing all those things that he was instructed to do not because he read it in a book or heard a preacher say it. He knew it in his heart because he had personal encounters with God. He had a personal relationship with God that he treasured beyond his own life. His ministry came out from his relationship with God. “But the people who know their God shall prove themselves strong and shall stand firm and do exploits [for God]” (Daniel 11:32 AMPC).

Many Christians know the Word of God. They know the miracles that God did in the Bible and yet they don’t have the faith to believe God for one. Their minds have been clouded up with the spirit of the world with doubt and unbelief. When Moses could not hold up his arms any longer, the Amalekites prevailed. Aaron and Hur came to Moses’ side and held up his arms until Israel defeated their enemy.

Here’s the secret to experiencing the supernatural power of God. Aaron was the high priest. His role was to represent God to the people and the people to God. He was an “intercessor.” One of the definition of Hur’s name is, “pure, one of the burnings, noble.” Being a “pure and holy individual who burns for God and intercedes, spends intimate time with the Lord” will see God for who He is and obey Him to do greater things. They are the ones who support the supernatural power of God to work in and through them.

Today’s Declaration

Heavenly Father, please forgive me if I haven’t honored You. Forgive me if I treated You as common and dishonored You. I repent of my sin. Your forgiveness is all I ask so I can live daily in Your presence. I want to live pure and holy every day of my life. I want to see You like Moses did, face to face. I want to know Your ways. I’m tired of low living and mundane talking. I’m tired of being a weak Christian being pushed around by the enemy. I’m tired of purposeless living because I’m running out of excuses to tell You. I want to experience the supernatural power of God in my life and in my ministry. Move towards me as I move towards You. I want my heart to be one with Yours. I forsake all to know You more. Use me, Lord. Use me for Your glory just as You used Moses, Aaron and Hur. In Jesus’ Mighty Name I pray. Amen.
