THE WHOLE ARMOR OF GOD

DEVOTIONAL-GRAPHIC-1600x900_131_Revised

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the LORD, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

Ephesians 6:10-12

We need to be able to make quality decisions in our lives. Not just any kind of decision, but one based on God’s Word and His ways. With all the chaos in the world the enemy would have us believe that we can conquer circumstances and situations on our own. He tries to deceive and distract us to rely on our own logic and not walk by faith.

Ephesians 6:10 says to, “be strong in the Lord and the power of HIS might.” It’s in His strength and might that we will be able to conquer. It continues to show us in verse 11 to put on the WHOLE armor of God that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. It’s not flesh and blood that we wrestle with; we are in a spiritual battle and not a natural one.

God equips us with His armor and the weapons for the battle which are truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit with is the Word of God. As we take up the whole armor of God, we are able to stand.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
My wife and I received Christ in our hearts, and we were so excited that we wanted to share Jesus with everyone. We were so proud of our “Helmet of Salvation.” One weekend there was a family gathering and we saw this as an opportunity to share Christ with my favorite cousin. In the midst of this party, which consisted of drinking, smoking and profanity-filled music, we began to share about receiving Christ and if she didn’t receive Christ, she would go to hell. After we shared with her our faith, she proceeded to stand up on a table and lead the entire gathering in a chant “WE’RE GOING TO HELL.” This was not the results my wife and I were hoping for. We learned that day, it was not just about wearing our helmet of salvation but putting on the WHOLE armor of God. Since then, as we understood and applied the Word, our cousin is now born again and attending Word of Life. (Malcolm Quartero)
